The Sand Slurker is a enemy appearing in Pikmin 44. It is found in the last area of the game, Dusty Abandon on the surface aa well as underground within caves. It hides underneath the sand with only its antenna peaking out above the ground. Once it spots a player or pikmin it will quickly move towards them while remaining underground kicking up sand as it moves. Once it reaches the player it will quickly burst from the sand causing nearby pikmin to get buried in the ground. After emerging, it will act similarly to a Medusal Slurker, hovering above the player whilst occasionally dropping its uvula-like appendage onto the ground grabbing onto any pikmin it comes in contact with. It will then suck them back into its transparent body and keep them for the rest of the day until defeated. Sand Slurkers can only hold a maximum of fifteen pikmin in its body, afterwards it wont attempt to collect any more. If the Sand Slurker is left alone for enough time, it will reenter the sand with any pikmin it has picked up during its time above the ground, resetting its attack cycle. Like the Medusal Slurker, the swallowed Pikmin will not die directly from the enemy, however, they will be counted as sunset fatalities if the day ends before they are rescued. The Sand Slurker can also occasionally be found holding items such as bomb rocks and treasures.
