Hazard |
A thorn is a hazard taking the form of a series of spiked projections on the stem or other parts of certain plants. Sometimes, they can even protrude from the ground, forming a spiked patch. Pikmin and leaders that touch them will be hurt, and Pikmin that are forced into them are typically impaled on them.

In Pikmin 44
This article or section pertains to Pikmin 44, a fanon game created by PurpleHeadache. |
Thorns are introduced in Pikmin 44, found primarily on the floor level of Twisting Treetops and the outskirts of Dusty Abandon. Most Pikmin will die after coming in contact with them, the only exceptions being Jungle Pikmin and Rock Pikmin. Thorns can come in a variety of different forms. Some enemies such as the Trickly Pear and the Thorny Bulborb utilize thorns. Thorns can also come in the form of obstacles such as thorny brambles, Cacti, and thorny floors. Although Rock Pikmin can survive thorns, they will be thrown back when attempting to damage thorny enemies or walk through thorny obstacles, rendering Jungle Pikmin the only truly useful Pikmin against the hazard. Thorny brambles can be burned by fire starters or fire enemies, though cacti, thorny floors, and thorny enemies can not.
