Members
Agitated Flint Beetle
- Main article: Agitated Flint Beetle
The Agitated Flint Beetle is a recently discovered species of Flint Beetle with a solid red shell. Although it can't kill any Pikmin, it still can deflower them by ramming into them. It can also damage captains in its rage, and will scamper towards captains rather than flee like most other species of Flint Beetles.
Armored Flint Beetle
- Main article: Armored Flint Beetle
The Armored Flint Beetle is, by technicality, an Iridescent Flint Beetle that has been armored and controlled by Louie. Under this control it's far more aggresive, and will ram and deflower any Pikmin close to it. It can also grab Pikmin and then proceed to burrow underground, this resulting in death to any Pikmin it drags down with it.
Ashcrab
- Main article: Ashcrab
The Ashcrab is a subterranean creature that feeds on varying burnt materials such as ash and soot. Although the name indicates it being a crustacean, it is indeed a member of the Flint Beetle family. When provoked out of hiding, it will flee from the player and release a mix of black nectar and fire in order to help get away. Hitting it will result in dropping sprays.
Bionic Flint Beetle
- Main article: Bionic Flint Beetle
The Bionic Flint Beetle is a close relative to the Flint Bug, the Doodlebug. After emerging and attempting to flee, it will release glowing particles as it runs, which after a while will release an on-going arc of electricity until it reaches the final particle, to which they all will disappear and the process is repeated until it disappears or defeated.
Diamond Beetle
- Main article: Diamond Beetle
The Diamond Beetle is a very rare and elusive Flint Beetle subspecies. It moved twice as fast as a standard Flint Beetle but rewards much more in forms of numerous sprays, nectar, and pellets just from one hit. It also only stays above ground for half the time as its relatives.
Doodlebug
- Main article: Doodlebug
The Doodlebug is an enemy in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4. Similar to the Iridescent Flint Beetle, this bug hides in a spot underground, and when approached, it unburrows and quickly scatters around. Periodically, it stops in place to rest, providing the player with the opportunity to hit it to obtain a reward, normally a spray drop, or in Pikmin 4, a bomb rock. After resting, when it darts off to a new location, it leaves a cloud of poisonous gas behind, making White Pikmin the ideal choice for combat.
Flint Flicker
- Main article: Flint Flicker
The Flint Flicker is a larger relatives that hunts down smaller subspecies. When it finds another Flint Beetle, it will lash out a long tongue to swallow them up. While it doesn't actively hunt Pikmin, any Pikmin that gets caught on its tongue while it's feeding will get eaten as well.
Flint Queen
- Main article: Flint Queen
The Flint Queen is a large queen of Flint Bugs. During the fight, it will summon Doodlebugs to poison the Pikmin rather than attacking or harming directly. Its hard shell is only able to be broken by Rock Pikmin. It will only summon more Doodlebugs once the shell is broken completely and it becomes agitated.
Hopping Flint Beetle
- Main article: Hopping Flint Beetle
The Hopping Flint Beetle is a blue Flint Beetle with elongated hind legs. This allows it to jump around the area, knocking over Pikmin as it does so.
Iridescent Flint Beetle
- Main article: Iridescent Flint Beetle
The Iridescent Flint Beetle is an enemy in Pikmin 1, Pikmin 2, Pikmin 3, and Pikmin 4. It is harmless and has a tough carapace to defend itself with, making it invulnerable to attacks. It dwells underground in fixed spots, but when approached, it emerges and scuttles around in a panic. Occasionally, it stops and provides an opportunity for the player to throw a Pikmin onto its back, making it flip and release a reward.
Iridescent Flint Grub
- Main article: Iridescent Flint Grub
The Iridescent Flint Grub is a larval Iridescent Flint Beetle that often stays above ground, before burrowing when it senses a threat. If it is defeated, it will drop many nectar dollops and leave its body to be collected.
Iridescent Glint Beetle
- Main article: Iridescent Glint Beetle
The Iridescent Glint Beetle is an insect in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4, quite similar to the Iridescent Flint Beetle, except its carapace resembles glittering gold in appearance. This enemy is rarer than the Flint Beetle, but drops more rewards. Like the Iridescent Flint Beetle, it hides underground in a fixed spot, and when approached, emerges and quickly scatters around. When it pauses to rest, the player can throw a Pikmin directly on top of it to make it drop a spoil.
Martyr Flint Beetle
- Main article: Martyr Flint Beetle
Contrary to the name, the Martyr Flint Beetle does not intend to die from the boss it approaches. They help the player by warning them that a boss is close, shortly after which they get killed by said boss. The Martyr Flint Beetle has the standard shape of a Flint beetle but it has a white back with red markings that look like blood veins. After the Martyr Flint Beetle dies, its body can be picked up and recovered.
Rhythmic Flint Beetle
- Main article: Rhythmic Flint Beetle
The Rhythmic Flint Beetle is a species of Flint beetle. It has a white shell, with red antennae, and is the most intelligent. When music plays during gameplay, the beetle will click, three times, to the music. On the third click, it will shoot a ball of fire, water or electricity in front of it, each chosen at random. They are considered pests, by galactic farmers, as they consume any vegetation. This species is very timid and will scuttle at twice the speed of its cousins.
Static Flint Beetle
- Main article: Static Flint Beetle
Static Flint Beetles area subspecies of Flint beetle. Unlike its harmless relative, it can kill any non-Yellow Pikmin upon contact with it. They usually hold items, like keys.
Stony Flint Beetle
- Main article: Stony Flint Beetle
The Stony Flint Beetle is an enemy in Hey! Pikmin. It uses its back legs to push rocks and prevent passage through corridors. It is the only flint beetle to possess wings, which it uses to fly away after the Pikmin push the rock into a hole.
