The code of conduct is a policy that outlines general rules for users, how users should behave on Pikmin Fanon and the Discord server, and punishments for misbehavior. All members are required to abide by them. In short, be civil.

Virtues

1. Treat others with respect.
Those acting on Pikmin Fanon's behalf should aim to be honest and ethical in their dealings with each other, community members, wiki partners and affiliates, and the general public, and treat others how they would want to be treated. Pikmin Fanon will not practice or tolerate discrimination based on place of origin, ethnicity, citizenship, gender, political or religious affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, family relationship, or economic or medical status. Pikmin Fanon aims to treat all people with respect and to foster a productive environment free of harassment, intimidation, and discrimination. Those that express bigoted opinions will be expelled from the website.
2. Respect the confidentiality of others.
Those acting on Pikmin Fanon's behalf must respect and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information they have gained due to their association with Pikmin Fanon. This may include personal information about community members or members of the general public and information about the internal workings of Pikmin Fanon or its partners.
3. Protect Pikmin Fanon's property and represent its best interests.
Those acting on Pikmin Fanon's behalf should seek to take good care of its property, and not expose it to loss, damage, misuse, or theft. Pikmin Fanon's property should be used solely for legitimate purposes and not for personal benefit. Generally, people should use common sense and moderation when using Pikmin Fanon resources. Users should aim to advance Pikmin Fanon’s legitimate interests, and never risk bringing Pikmin Fanon into disrepute.

Rules of thumb

1. Assume good faith.
Just because a user makes an edit that contains typos or false claims or broke some coding doesn't mean they're trying to harm the wiki. Always assume good faith, that they want to help the wiki, unless there is clear evidence to the contrary. Every user has a different level of experience with wikis, be it writing or contributing in other ways. When contacting a user about an edit they make, it is critical to have empathy and to gently guide them on how to improve, especially with new users, which are very easy to chase away.
2. No edit wars.
Users that make an edit that is reverted or changed by another user, with or without their own reasoning, should not take offense to it, and consider the reason why the change happened. Users may submit information, but don't own edits they make, and chances are that if one user had a good reason to make an edit, so did the user that made theirs. Users that are sure their edit was fine should change it back with a fair reason in the edit summary. If an agreement isn't reached, leave it alone. Don't be the user to make the third change. Users that can't agree on a change should consult with one another on a talk page and discuss the reasoning for their changes until an agreement is reached.
3. Don't feed trolls.
Trolls and vandals harm projects like wikis for fun and thrive off making people angry or upset. Paying them any mind will give them all the more reason to continue their behaviors. While cleaning up their messes, don't acknowledge them or show any sort of reaction in the edit summary; even a simple summary of "undo: vandalism" is sufficient. The same applies to staff members banning such users from the wiki. As well, don't reach out to trolls or vandals on their talk page, or respond to any messages they may send. They know what they did wrong.
4. Readers and editors are invaluable.
Everyone that takes part in Pikmin Fanon, regardless of whether they simply peruse the site or make contributions to it, influences its continued existence. Their presence in the Pikmin community is what makes it whole. Input is always welcome, and while editing, every contribution is valuable, no matter who they are from. Users that have a problem with the wiki or a user part of it, have a proposal on how to improve the wiki, or anything else to say regarding it should contact a staff member about it to let them know.

Specific orders

In addition to the above information, Pikmin Fanon has a series of more specific topics its users should keep in mind.

  • Low-quality articles and files may be removed from the wiki without prior notice.
  • Vandalism is not tolerated. Perpetrators will be blocked from editing.
  • Users with inappropriate or offensive usernames will be immediately blocked from editing and have their usernames hidden from public view.
  • Account abuse, be it through creating and using multiple accounts to vandalize the work of others, or soliciting users for personal information, will result in swift punishment.
  • Users that desire to be part of wiki staff may contact an existing staff member to know if they meet the criteria.

Reminders and warnings

Users that make a genuine mistake or deliberately harm the wiki are subject to having the following templates on their talk pages. Removing them from talk pages is punishable.

{{reminder}}
Any user can enforce this, within reason. It is used when a user makes a repeated mistake, such as not using correct spelling or grammar.
{{warning}}*
Administrators and bureaucrats can enforce this. It is used for a more serious issue, whether intentional or not, such as entering their information into the work of others without permission or revealing another user's personal information.
{{lastwarn}}*
Administrators and bureaucrats can enforce this. It is used as a final warning and can only be used once. After this, the offending user may be blocked.
{{blocked}}
Administrators and bureaucrats can enforce this. It is used to notify a user that they may not contribute to Pikmin Fanon until their block is revoked or expires.

*Users that feel they have wrongfully been issued one of these templates may contact an administrator or bureaucrat to discuss the issue.

Changing usernames

It is possible for users to change their username if they so desire by contacting a staff member about it. However, because of the Fanon Wiki Network's structure, the actual rename process itself can only be done through Fanon Wiki. Once done, the user's username will be updated all across the wiki except for links in pages. Users may only change their username once every three months. Staff members may deny a rename request at their discretion if they notice a user asking for renames for the fun of it.
