The following guidelines apply to character and vehicle articles. The following sections should exist, with the names and order provided.

Please know that there are two sets of guidelines on this page: one is for canon articles, the other for fanon articles.

No matter the type of article, {{navboxes}} should be present at the bottom of the page, under {{clear}} and above any specified categories, and populated by any related navigation templates.

Canon articles

These guidelines apply strictly to canonical character and vehicle articles.

Synopsis

For canon articles strictly, the opening explains, with minimal detail, what the character or vehicle is in general, and does not have a respective header. Additionally, {{infobox info}} should be present alongside the information of a character or vehicle, placed above the sentences, to provide a meager bit of additional information and to properly categorize the page. Unless absolutely necessary, refrain from describing the character or vehicle's appearance.

A gallery section is necessary only if the character or vehicle has several differing physical appearances in the canonical Pikmin games or has several otherwise unused fanmade images that don't belong anywhere else. Gallery images should have captions such as "Appearance in Pikmin 2 ({{icon}})." or "As envisioned by User."

In fanon media

Because some fanmade content comes in the form of fanfictions or standalone ideas rather than fangame content, this section is forked. This section in itself should not be included on pages, but the following should as individual headers, when applicable, and in the following order:

  1. In fanon writing
  2. In fanon games
  3. User versions

Each section should be a level one heading, done by typing =<name>=. It should immediately follow the synopsis and contain only {{in fanon games}}.

Fanon media subsections

Each of the three fanon media sections should contain at least one entry detailing the character or vehicle. Each subsection should be in alphabetical order, have a level two heading (==<name>==), start with {{media}} or a specific media header linking the writing or game the character or vehicle is in, have {{infobox character}} when detailing a character but not necessarily a vehicle character, and end with {{clear}}, followed by a space. User sections have {{see}} in place of a media banner template.

There is much freedom in creating a subsection's content, although it should contain at least an introduction including the character's or vehicle's name, their role or roles, and the name of the writing or game in which they appear. With the exception of the introductory sentence, other details can be presented in any order, and in the form of a single paragraph or several paragraphs. Presented details can be of any length, even if they are only one sentence long, but should be explained in an objective manner. Including many details is not mandatory but is useful for expanding article sections and articles overall, preventing them from becoming stubs.

Afterward, place a gallery section if necessary, akin to the section described in the synopsis section.

Fanon articles

These guidelines apply strictly to fanonical character and vehicle articles.

Opening paragraphs

The opening to the article should start with {{see}}, {{media}}, or a specific media header linking the writing or game the character or vehicle is in and explains who or what the character or vehicle is as well as their roles, and does not have a respective heading. Additionally, for characters, but not necessarily vehicle characters, {{infobox character}} should be present alongside their information, placed above the sentences but under the media header, to provide a meager bit of additional information and to properly categorize the page.

Appearance and personality

In at least one paragraph, describe the character's appearance and personality.

Traits and abilities

This section is necessary only if the character's traits and abilities are of great enough importance. It can be presented in the form of a bulleted list, although paragraph form is preferred. Some details that can be mentioned here are a character or vehicle's statistics, a character's signature color and whistle sound, and or special capabilities they may have.

Biography

Describe any general details about the character's or vehicle's past, such as their upbringing or construction, the events leading up to where they are now, and how they are currently, such as their opinions about other characters.

Major details about the character's or vehicle's history should be divided into and contained in aptly-named subsections that are organized in chronological order.

Gallery

This section should be present only in fanon character and vehicle articles. The gallery should contain images of or involving the character or vehicle, each with a caption. Images made by another user of a specific character or vehicle should have captions such as "As envisioned by User."

Bottom of the article

Unless there are no related navigation templates to populate it, {{navboxes}} should be present at the bottom of the page, above any specified categories.
