Voids are special portals in Pikmin: Dimensional Breach. They appeared all over PNF-404 because of damage caused to the S.S. Dolphin II's Chronos Reactor. Voids appear as swirling portals floating in the world or on the exteriors of walls. They have a single, unblinking eye bearing a slitted pupil within them; voids just floating in space always rotate to look at nearby leaders, but voids in walls have their eyes always twitching, looking in all sorts of directions outside of them. Voids have only one purpose, which is to constantly spawn enemies until they are sealed shut by destroying their eye.

Voids can be imbued with different elements as well; this changes their color and the type of enemies they spawn. An elemental void also has to be taken down by specific Pikmin. All types of Bulbmin may be used if they share a resistance with the mentioned Pikmin. Below is a list of all the types of voids, listed in no particular order:

  • Normal voids are purple with a red eye, and they summon relatively weak enemies. Any Pikmin can seal them.
  • Infernal voids are red with a black eye, and they summon fire-based enemies such as Fiery Bulblaxes and Pyroclasmic Slooches. Red Pikmin can seal them. They also occasionally spit fireballs.
  • Thundering voids are yellow with a silver eye, and they summon electric enemies such as Anode Beetles. Yellow Pikmin can seal them. They arc electricity in a set radius.
  • Abyssal voids are dark blue with a glowing green eye, and they summon water-based enemies such as Watery Blowhogs and Goolixes. Blue Pikmin can seal them. They are commonly found in pools, and these pools recede once they are defeated; they essentially act as a more dangerous version of clogs.
  • Vile voids are white with a purple eye, and they summon toxic enemies. White Pikmin can seal them. They emit spiraling jets of poison gas comparable to those of the Comedy Bomb when used by the Titan Dweevil.
  • Geologic voids are gray with an eye made of crystal, and they summon enemies like Calcified Crushblats and Skutterchucks that use crystal to their advantage. They have no special attacks or even a means to directly harm Pikmin, but their crystal eyes mean that only Rock Pikmin can seal them.
  • Etheric voids are pink with a blue eye, and they summon flying enemies. They hover out of reach of most Pikmin, but they have no unique attack. Only Winged Pikmin can seal them because of their height.
  • Desert voids are tan with an orange eye, and they summon sand-based enemies. They are usually cloaked in a sandstorm, so only Orange Pikmin can seal them.
  • Fallout voids are green with a white eye, and they summon radioactive enemies. They emit a passive radioactive aura, so only Green Pikmin can seal them.
  • Arctic voids are cyan with a blue eye, and they summon cold-based enemies. They emit puffs of cold air, so only Cyan Pikmin can seal them.

Void is a hazard in Pikmin: Together Forever that consumes objects from in-between time and space, as well as Pikmin.

Voids can occur in place of a wall. Void walls will consume any Pikmin that are not Black Pikmin, causing them to stretch into horrific monsters named Void Pikmin. Void Pikmin will relentlessly attack leaders and unaffected Pikmin, and non-Black Pikmin that are thrown at the Void Pikmin will merely be caught. Void Pikmin can run three times faster than even Moss, Oatchi, and Cauliflower can ultra-dash. When killed by non-Black Pikmin, Void Pikmin will melt into a pool of utter darkness and disappear, also killing any Pikmin they pull in during this time. When a Void Pikmin is killed by a Black Pikmin, the Void Pikmin will harmlessly dissolve into a pool of darkness that stretches upward into a vague Pikmin shape that will be cleansed of shadow, revealing a slightly damaged but still alive Pikmin.

Enemies that eat Void Pikmin will also be imbued with void energy. Void enemies do not create Void Pikmin when touched by non-Black Pikmin, instead being hurt as normal. When a void enemy dies, they simply melt in the same way as Void Pikmin do.

Void is one of the only hazards that Glow Pikmin can die to. Mystery Pikmin are unharmed by void. Void walls that are destroyed will drop one Ancient Mix, not to be confused with the music track of the same name.
