The Bi-Clawed Slag is a boss slag appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. This boss heavily resembles a star-nosed mole but has only two claws on each hand, and its fur is dark purple. It is the main boss of Mystical Fields, and its arena is atop a large, floating island. As Pikmin can not latch onto its body, other methods must be used to defeat it.

When the fight begins, the Bi-Clawed Slag will pop out of the ground and emit a trembling roar. The creature has a variety of attacks that it will cycle through randomly. One attack is when the captain or Pikmin are too close; the Slag will swipe them away with its claws, which has a small chance of killing Pikmin. The next attack is the Slag digging around violently in a circle, throwing sand, Pikmin, and captains above it high into the air and all around the arena. The third attack is the Slag slamming a fist onto a group of Pikmin, burying them, and reverting their maturities to the leaf stage. The fourth attack is deadly; the Slag will burrow into the ground, and after a few seconds, both of its claws will pop out of the ground, ready to attack. If not dodged, up to ten Pikmin will be snatched and brought underground, being killed.

After performing two to three of its other attacks, the Bi-Clawed Slag will perform its main attack: digging into the ground and pulling up many different enemies and objects. Enemies are mainly subterranean ones and become more dangerous the less health the Slag has, and consist of Armored Cannon Beetle Larvae, Female Sheargrubs, Flighty Joustmites, Iridescent Flint Beetles, Joustmites, Male Sheargrubs, Shearwigs, and Spotted Nectarhoarders. Along with this, numerous other things can be dug up by the Slag, including eggs, large dirt balls that bury Pikmin, pellets, bomb rocks, and mainly, a large bowling ball. Once the bowling ball appears, get twenty Pikmin to lift the ball and launch it at the Slag. This will stop the Slag from digging, and do a sizeable amount of damage. To kill the Slag, launch the bowling ball each time at the creature at least five times. Upon the fifth strike, the Slag will pop from the ground and die, spitting out any treasure it had ingested. Defeating a Bi-Clawed Slag for the first time will grant the "Whack-a-Bowl" achievement.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This large creature seems to be a new off-branch of the mole species. This mammalian feeds off of the numerous creatures hidden inside the dirt. It also seems that the young are either hidden underground; or nests which researchers have not found yet. Researchers have witnessed the Slag species accidentally uprooting and throwing their young. This is due to the fact that they are blind, and rely on vibrations to find out where things are.

Louie's notes

Make sure to shave and declaw this large beast, before cooking it with a delicious mole seasoning. In no time, you'll have a fresh rotisserie mole!

President’s notes

The truth is... I kind of want a giant mole as a pet! I could play fetch with it and take it out for walks. It’s sooo fluffy and cute... Nobody can read these notes, right?
