The Ornate Croasac is an amphibious creature in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It is a rotund, frog-like creature with red on its top half and a beige belly underneath. It has lighter spots on top and yellow spots on its underbelly. It has white lips, with a horn-like growth on the top lip. It has baggy eyes and overall appears to be incredibly indolent.
Ornate Croasacs can be found on stationary lily pads, either sleeping or scouting. Either way, upon noticing Pikmin, the Ornate Croasac will reveal its large tongue. This tongue is purple, near human-like, and covered in barbs. It will then proceed to make numerous short hops toward the Pikmin or leaders nearby. It will then slam its tongue onto them, knocking back leaders and catching Pikmin. The creature will then swallow any Pikmin it caught.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “The Ornate Croasac is an example of evolutionary mimicry on PNF-404. These amphibious creatures used to have much more drab, brown skin. However, intervention from other creatures like bulborbs and phosbats required it to evolve in order to look bigger than it really is. The spotted red back, beige underbelly, and lethargic habits of this creature mimic those of a Red Bulborb. This usually scares off smaller creatures and tricks bulborbs into thinking they are of their own kin. Ornate Croasacs sometimes eat Dwarf Red Bulborbs when the actual grub-dog's back is turned.”
Louie's notes
- “Their legs are best skillet-fried with salt, lemon juice, and shallots. Serve it with couscous for an absolutely mouth-watering meal!”
Ship's comments
- “With its spotted, crimson backside glossed with moisture, this creature looks remarkably like a ladybug. This is kind of cute... but ladybugs are still bug enough to have "bug" in their name, so it's much too vile for me!”
