The Moldy Bulborb is an unfortunate grub-dog in Pikmin Evolution that was infected by sporovid spores. Like its smaller variant, the Dwarf Moldy Bulborb, the Moldy Bulborb is a grayish-green zombie barely clinging to life due to the clump of mold festering on its back. The mold urges the Moldy Bulborb to patrol its territory and consume food to nourish it. The Moldy Bulborb walks slowly, unsurprising considering it's essentially a shambling corpse, but the mold on its back lets it sense prey behind it, meaning it's very difficult to sneak up on. On top of that, the mold on its back also emits a trail of green mold in the bulborb's wake, slowing and poisoning anything that crosses it, causing those exposed to slowly decay. The body of the Bulborb is insensitive to any pain afflicted to it, and so the only way to meaningful way to deal damage would be to target the clump of mold on its back. Due to the toxic vapor the mold creates, only Roach Pikmin can attack the Moldy Bulborb thanks to their immunity to spores and poison. The clump of mold on the Moldy Bulborb's backside is quite resistant to harm and has minor regenerative properties, but is quite sensitive to fluids. Water stuns the mold, and by extension, the Bulborb it controls, and temporarily negates its regenerative abilities, making blue syrup an essential tool. However, green syrup, because of its corrosive properties, heavily damages the mold and permanently negates its regenerative properties. Using the poisonous purple syrup, however, will only cause the mold to grow, rendering the host even slower but doubling the mold's integrity. Exposing it to purple syrup also increases the likelihood of the mold clump maturing, a Toxstool erupting from it and the host withering into a Dwarf Moldy Bulborb to guard it. Alternatively, the mold clump may also mature with time or when the Moldy Bulborb feeds enough, both being likely scenarios because of the damp areas it is found in. However, with these tips in mind, the Moldy Bulborb may not be as daunting as it may seem despite what its ghoulish appearance may suggest.
