The Frosty Bulborb is an ice-covered grub-dog appearing in Pikmin 4. It acts much like its relatives, sleeping until disturbed during the day, whereupon it chases after anything that wakes it up, and awake at night, patroling its territory. However, it can freeze Pikmin and leaders on contact if the ice crystals on its back have not been removed prior. A little while after the ice on its backside is removed, it regenerates.

Attacks | Eats and slows Pikmin |
The Frosty Bulborb is a returning species of grub-dog in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles its original variant in Pikmin 4. The Bulborb will spend its time sleeping until provoked by Pikmin. Due to its ice-covered hide, any Pikmin that try to fight the creature will be heavily slowed. However, if enough damage is dealt to the Frosty Bulborb, the creature's hide will shatter, stopping Pikmin from being slowed on contact. The process of removing the ice can be sped up by throwing Rock Pikmin at the back of the Bulborb. Along with this, if the Frosty Bulborb is near fire, the ice will begin to slowly melt. Fur Pikmin cannot be frozen instantly, but they are slowed down significantly when attacking, so they are more of a last resort.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This species of bulborb seems to possess the ability to store loads of sugar and amino acids, giving it the quality of being immune to frost. The creature takes advantage of this, using the hyperthermic ice on its back as self-defense. The Frosty Bulborb tends to stay in colder climates to keep the ice crystals on their back in top shape.”
Louie's notes
- “Cut a slice of meat off and put on a sandwich with melted Swiss, onion, mushroom, and peppers. Very frosty, but has a spicy flavor.”
President’s notes
- “I always hated having to pay my electricity bill. Maybe this giant bulborb can be a good replacement for a freezer to cut back on money.”
