Attacks Knocks over Pikmin

The Brinepole is an enemy in Pikmin: Interstellar Cryptid. It resembles a black olive with slanted purple eyes and a brown pit. It has a tail-like leaf that makes it resemble a tadpole, hence the name. The Brinepole will target leaders and Blue Pikmin it finds in the water it swims in, spitting its pit at them to knock them over. It can not harm Pikmin, merely distracting them instead. After it shoots its pit, it will go to retrieve it to use it again. During this time, Pikmin can be ordered to attack the pit until it breaks, leaving the Brinepole defenseless. If a Brinepole is killed before it can retrieve its intact pit, the pit will lie on the ground without interference, similar to a Gildemander's golden nuggets.

Notes

Olimar's notes

It's amazing how far plants on this planet can go; this member of the Ambuloradicis class only grows in the water. There are no gills on the fruiting body of this plant, yet it germinates and bears its fruit completely submerged. Interestingly, each individual brinepole has its own mind and body but can spawn from the same plant, implying this is the larval stage of a very fertile specimen. Only some brinepoles can actually propagate via their seeds, as indicated by their green coloration. Dark-colored brinepoles are sterile and use their pits as defense, either for them or others of their kind.

Louie's notes

Deliciously salty. I recommend you use younger brinepoles so the taste isn't overwhelming. Specimens can be filleted like fish and eaten raw.

Bentley's notes

I was actually the one who came up with the name. You see, "brinepole" kinda sounds like, "brine pool". Clever, I am!

Eloise's notes

Just looking at this creature reminds me of my mom's cooking. Oh, how delicious... and salty. She really likes using spices, but it could get kinda overwhelming at times. Alas, we cleaned our plates entirely in our old household.
