The Little Clucka is a young clooster appearing in Pikmin Evolution. A juvenile Cluckasaur, they resemble yellow-skinned chicks with only a tiny layer of down covering their bodies. Their unprotected skin leaves them weak to the cold, so they hide deep underground until they gain the feathers to survive the surface world. They are generally not all that threatening alone, only slowly walking by before dashing forward when they see a Pikmin to eat them by plucking them with their beaks. Despite being freshly hatched, the Little Clucka is developed enough to be able to walk and run normally, though it's still underdeveloped in the bulk department, having little vitality and defense for a creature of its size. The true danger of the Little Clucka comes in its habit to appear in large clutches. When one member dies, the rest of the group will briefly run around in panic before all rushing towards the active captain to attack their Pikmin. They won't stop pursuing the leader until they reach a source of water, which they can't swim in, or encounter fire, which they instinctively flee from. The clutch is surprisingly tight-nit and protective of one another, with each gutsy chick swarming larger creatures like the fellow forest predator, the Orange Bulborb, often winning against their larger foe despite the massive size difference between them. Little Cluckas should be attacked with Alloy Pikmin as their massive thuds will deal big damage to the Clucka, often needing only two or three to kill them. Using the Little Clucka's weakness to the cold will also be a good strategy, as spraying an ice-cold cyan syrup can freeze them in their tracks and cause massive damage, sometimes even killing them outright. Overall, by taking the time to analyze what Pikmin to use and when to use them, a flock of Little Cluckas can be taken down quite easily.

Notes

Ivy's journal

Cluckasaurs have an extremely high breeding rate comparable to most common rodents, but their nests don't have the occupancy to fill for these chicks, so they are quickly abandoned in the wild a few days after hatching. These young Cloosters already have enough muscular development to be able to walk and run, so they have the basic skills to survive the outside world. A single chick has a high mortality rate, so these birds flock together in tight gangs to benefit from strength in numbers. When together, they are known to overpower the local wildlife and take over their niches, with the strongest males and females growing up to become powerful adults.

Leni's recipe book

This is a meal I would rather not eat. Coming from someone who came from a group I don't want to talk about, eating young is out of the question for me.

Marvin's strategy guide

This bird lacks skin, or rather, feathers. It's very frail and even the smallest touch of frost is enough to send it into a panic.

Attacks Eats Pikmin

The Little Clucka is an enemy in the Pikmin: Interstellar Cryptid DLC Operation: Rubber Ducky Overboard. Similar to its appearance in Pikmin Evolution, it is a small, barely developed Cluckasaur with a yellow body and very tiny down feathers. Similar to the Phosbat, Little Cluckas congregate in clusters and will often meander about in a centralized area. When one gets close enough to a Pikmin, it will chase the Pikmin to eat it. When a Little Clucka is harmed, it and all of its brethren will suddenly panic, running in a frenzy before turning towards the squad that wronged them and giving chase. Like this, Little Clucka clutches can assimilate other clutches into themselves, potentially making for a hectic chase if mishandled. The only things that will break a chase are bodies of water or fire, or simply escaping from their collective frenzy. The easiest way to deal with Little Cluckas would be to use Moss's ice spit ability from blue Fruiting Pugweed berries; Little Cluckas are weak to the cold, so when frozen they take substantial damage in the process. From there, a charge from Moss can easily plow through the frozen coop.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Due to the presence of a spermathecae, an organ normally found in arthropods, the parent cluckasaur is able to lay a seemingly endless amount of eggs. However, these little cluckas are seldom taken care of by their parents. Only so many could fit in each nest before the barely capable oldest and most developed ones are forced into the fray. In order to survive what other young animals would find to be an impossibly daunting environment, these little cluckas form tightly packed swarms that depend on each other for food, warmth, and picking parasites. They tend to become highly dangerous when coming together, being capable of taking over ecosystems through their sheer numbers alone. They even might target and attack the nests of their former mother, taking vengeance out on the creature that had abandoned them so thoughtlessly before.

Louie's notes

Morsel is too lean for much of anything in this state. Wait for when it becomes big and strong as an adult before anything is attempted.

Structural flaw: temperature intolerance

Nanomachines are one of the scariest possible pieces of technology in my opinion; the idea of multiple minuscule robots working together to form a Herculean opponent seems like much more than could be even managed. These chicks are like nanomachines in that regard... only not so nano... and kinda adorable as well.

Brittany's comments

I LOVE THEM! Those fluffy feathers combined with their squinted eyes and downturned beaks make them look upset at everything. I'd be more than happy to disrupt a flock of these darlings if it means having them all run into my arms!

Charlie's comments

Sometimes, I wonder if Brittany really wanted to be a botanist, or if it's merely a compromise from a dream of working with animals. She's shown more interest and investment in these muffins than I've seen in her for ages. Yes, they are very much cute, but make no mistake – they're like vultures if you show any signs of weakness near them.
