It's not a random chunk of ice! Watch out! – The ship, upon discovering the Iceseeing Sniper

The Iceseeing Sniper is a disguising enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The enemy resembles a large chunk of ice, particularly a stalagmite. The top of the Iceseeing Sniper is covered in a thin layer of snow, like a mountain. The creature, like most species of the eyebulb family, has a very distinct, singular eye with a white sclera and navy blue pupil. This eye is revealed when in proximity to the enemy.

The Iceseeing Sniper will remain completely still, its eye closed so it can camouflage within its surroundings. When the Iceseeing Sniper is approached, the eye will suddenly open, and the creature will spring to life. It will position itself in front of the nearest Pikmin, before its eye suddenly begins to glow a bright blue. The Iceseeing Sniper will fire off a large ice spear right out of its eye, which will travel in a straight line before either crashing into the nearest wall or spontaneously melting after ten seconds. This ice spear will freeze any non-Ice Pikmin that it passes by, and any Pikmin it hits directly as it soars will be killed as well. This means that not even Ice Pikmin are completely safe from the attack. If the Iceseeing Sniper is swarmed by Pikmin, it will freeze any non-Ice Pikmin naturally. However, it can also hop forward to crush any Pikmin that were swarming its front side.

Iceseeing Snipers can be tricky to take out. Due to their icy properties, only Ice Pikmin and Snapdragon Pikmin can hurt them. Dart Pikmin can kill the eyebulb instantly if they manage to hit the eye, like most eyebulbs, but if they miss, they will be frozen on impact. If Ice Pikmin are sent to attack the Iceseeing Sniper from the back, they can easily take out the enemy. Snapdragon Pikmin can breathe fire on the enemy, and melt them slowly dealing extreme damage. Snapdragon Pikmin are also immune to the freezing properties of the eyebulb.

In Overlord mode, the Iceseeing Sniper can jump backward and forward, making them even more dangerous when taking them on.

  • P3 Data file icon.png Data file #1: Iceseeing Snipers will crush any Pikmin swarming their front, watch out, and attack their backside!
  • P3 Data file icon.png Data file #2 (Overlord mode): Try and find the pattern of the Iceseeing Sniper as it can jump backward and forward.

Olimar's notes

This strange species of eyebulb has developed a thick layer of skin over its internal organs, including its eye. This allows them to have a layer of warmth, as they take refuge inside an icy coating. Unfortunately, the Iceseeing Sniper must constantly feed off of the armor and use it for defense, so it won't last for long. As a result, they will constantly migrate from icicle to icicle, similar to a hermit crab in a way.

Louie's notes

Surprisingly, the eye of this beast tastes of blueberry. Make sure to heat the eye and melt it into a delicious syrup for pancakes!

President’s notes

This icy foe reminds me of a truly cold and grueling time, the Great Debt Blizzard of '63... Hehe... I'm just messing with ya.

Overlord’s thoughts

I have realized something... the eyebulb family is basically a bunch of eyeballs that hide in different things. Aquaoculus, Flatoculus, Iceseeing Sniper, Speedeye, Destructulus! What do they all have in common?
