The Skeletal Wollywog is an amphituber appearing in Pikmin: Infection in Progress. It has black skin and two glowing yellow eyes, and its body is completely covered in thick, spiked, chitinous plates. They are found in Fungal Grotto, Overrun Laboratory, Polluted Creek, and Toxic Barrens, found commonly on land and uncommonly in shallow bodies of water. The President is able to assist in carrying the remains of a Skeletal Wollywog.
Much like most other members of its family, the Skeletal Wollywog is a quadrupedal creature that lingers in one spot until its prey approaches it. Skeletal Wollywogs are the same size as the humble Wollywog but are unique from other members of their family in that they use the white, bone-like plating covering their bodies to camouflage as a bare skeleton, hence the name of the species, by closing their eyes and sitting still until prey approaches. The black skin of a Skeletal Wollywog makes this hunting technique particularly effective in dark locations, and its glowing yellow eyes only enhance its rather ghastly appearance. While lying in wait, a Skeletal Wollywog will periodically open its eyes to check for approaching prey, briefly ruining its disguise. On the chitinous plating covering a Skeletal Wollywog's body are sharp spikes that can impale Pikmin the creature rams into.
Skeletal Wollywogs will retain their facade of being a mere skeleton even while the President and his Pikmin stand beside it, except for if their backs are turned towards it, in which case the Skeletal Wollywog will spring forward into their unaware prey to knock them down before jumping on top of them to crush them. Some Pikmin may even be skewered by the spikes on the creature's plating. Unlike most other amphitubers, Skeletal Wollywogs fall straight down after reaching the apex of their jump instead of hovering in the air. Purple Pikmin seem to be the ultimate weakness of Skeletal Wollywogs, as they are able to not only destroy the chitinous plating covering the creatures but also inflict plenty of damage to them. Bomb rocks can be used to blow off the armor protecting the creature.
