The Lesser Trunk-Nosed Bulboar is a species of grub-hog appearing in Pikmin: Neo. It is the juvenile stage of the Trunk-Nosed Bulboar and therefore shares various traits with its adult stage. Most notably, these traits include the gray hide, thin tail, and signature trunk-like nose. Living in savannas due to being pushed back by species such as the Spotty Bulbear, these young grub-hogs are vulnerable to being preyed upon by beasts such as the native Malted Bulborb, so as protection, they ride their parents' backs until they are old enough to fend for themselves. Adult bulboars are doting parents that often use their trunks to shower water onto their young to clean them. Meanwhile, the young often look behind their parents to alert them of any approaching danger. Using their trunk-like noses, they call other adult bulboars to their aid to defend against any danger. Their roars also scare away prey such as Pikmin and can become annoying should one want to fight the adults first. Like all dwarfs or lesser grub-dogs and -hogs, using Purple Pikmin to quickly flank them is a good tactic against them as they can quickly take down these small fries.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The grub-dogs and -hogs, while visually similar, have massive differences in parenting styles. Recent observations have revealed that true grub-hogs tend to bear live young instead of eggs, and they seem to be more doting on their young than most grub-dogs. The closest member of the grub-dog family to share this distinction is the bulbear, which coincidentally has territorial disputes with the grub-hogs.

Louie's notes

Thinly slice the trunk and stuff it with ground meat and potatoes. Bake it in an oven for an hour and let it sit until it cools to provide and mouthwatering cultural delicacy.
