The Spring Dancer is a species of flower dancer appearing in Pikmin: Neo. It is a flowering plant that has gained enough intelligence and evolved to the point it can move on land like an animal. It is a tall creature consisting of a thin, light-green body with a purple flower around itself like a skirt. Inside the flower is a small bulb with two small blue dots resembling eyes and a small bud-like structure on the top of its head. During the day, it spends its time alone, prancing about the forests it calls home, hopping up and down almost as if it's practicing for a dance. It appears that it does this dance to entertain the wildlife, but in reality, it's a cruel predator, dancing to distract nearby small creatures into stillness before revealing spiked petals to impale its prey while doing the very dances it uses to distract its foe. When it captures its prey, it crouches down and plants itself into the ground to eat its prey from the small bud-like structure on its top, serving as its mouth. During this phase, it resembles a member of the candypop family and will continue its normal behavior after fully digesting its prey. At night, these creatures congregate to spread pollen between one another, creating seeds for the next generation of flower dancers. Be careful when battling them with Pikmin as their spinning attacks can snag up to six Pikmin for them to eat, and at night entire hordes of them must be fought. They have a weakness, however, which is strong fire: it sets them ablaze, leaving them to die quickly. If defeated at night, they have a chance to drop any type of nectar, whether it is garden-variety nectar or nectar from the Whip Seed, Knuckle Seed, or Hammer Seed.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “In the sun of a new dawn, there is a cruel mistress of the forest. This species of a plant developed muscles in its roots to gain the capabilities to walk on land. Being carnivorous, it developed spike-tipped petals to hunt for small prey. Using distinct and distracting dances, it confuses prey before dealing the killing blow. If it weren't for the Pikmin, I would think all plants are heartless.”
Louie's notes
- “Wanting a sweet, mouthwatering jam substitute? Just mix the petals with your favorite fruits and a cup of sugar, then let it sit overnight.”
