The Winter Dancer is a species of flower dancer appearing in Pikmin: Neo. Like its relatives, it is a flowering plant that has gained enough intelligence and evolved to the point it can move on land like an animal. This one has an emerald green body, red flowers, pink eyes, and a lime-green bud on its top. It is a hardy being, living in polar regions and boreal forests. During its brief exposure to sunlight, it sleeps by standing crouched down, resembling a member of the candypop family. In this form, it is unresponsive to most outside forces but is highly defensive, being immune to most direct attacks. At night, it opens and then uses its long petals to perform an extremely extravagant dance to charm prey, and even those enjoying from a distance are subject to its cruel personality as it will skewer them without prejudice. The extra-long petals it wields also have extra-long spined tips, giving them more range and therefore making them more dangerous. At night, like all flower dancers, it congregates with others of its kind to attack in numbers. While their dormant daytime form is immune to most attacks, a single explosion is enough to instantly burst it open, revealing many types of nectar in exchange for a lack of a collectible corpse. Doing this is advisable to avoid encountering them at night. Be wary as its thick leaves make them resistant to fire-based damage.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This species of flower dancer is notable for being one of the few creatures capable of surviving the cold, harsh winter. It has a thick film over its leaves to protect itself from the cold, and also, ironically, fire. Some theorize that the leaves also absorb sunlight in a place where it is very rare. But for me, I am just enamored by their strange and cruel disposition and how they evolved to gain such a behavior.

Louie's notes

Leaves and petals are too tough for consumption on a regular basis but make great decorations for the main entree. Just separate the two to avoid confusion.
