[[Areas|Area]] articles should follow the following guidelines.
The following '''[[PikminFanon:Policies and guidelines|guidelines]]''' apply to '''[[area]] articles'''. The following sections should exist, with the names and order provided.

==Opening paragraphs==
==Opening paragraphs==
The opening paragraphs should introduce the readers to what kind of area this is. The following are details that should be included, but not limited to:
The article starts with {{t|game}}, or a respective [[:Category:Game header templates|game header]], followed by {{t|infobox area}}. The opening text, which is not in its own section, should describe what the area is like in the broadest terms possible: how the area is reached, what the most important events that take place in it are, what [[Pikmin family|Pikmin]] are discovered there, what boss or bosses it has, and other basic points about the area. Miscellaneous geographical features such as [[hidden mural]]s should be mentioned in this section. Additionally, it is optional to mention what specific enemies show up during [[sunset]], as well as any other important information about the area's specific sunset period.
*When it is first visited.

*A general description of the area's layout.
==Plot==
*The main theme of the area.
If there are any relevant plot events regarding this area, list them here.
*Types of enemies encountered.

*Its overall difficulty.
==Overview==
*What types of Pikmin are discovered here, if any.
This section explains the geographical properties of the area, such as:
*The number of caves located here and the number of collectibles found, if any.
*Its theme, whether it's a garden, desert, and so forth;
*Its size;
In addition to the opening paragraphs, there must be an area infobox to the right.
*Its structure, whether it's a maze, open-ended, and so on;
*Type and distribution of the terrain;
==Story==
*Types of structures of interest, such as several tree stumps, or a lake;
After the opening paragraphs should be a section titled Story. This section explains how the area relates to the story and what happens here.
*Its linearity, whether it is mostly open with equal exploration on all points of the land, or if it's mostly linear, with clear start and end points;
*How much vertical variation there is;
==Layout==
*If it's surrounded by [[water]], [[pit]]s, or something else.
This section describes the general layout of the area, as well as specific parts of the area. When describing the area as a whole, the following points should be kept in mind:

==Key sections==
This section should explain the different sections of the area, including cardinal direction references, and list all portions of an area. For example: "To the north, there is a large circular arena accessible at a higher ground level. A rabid beast here guards a sacred relic within a small alcove in its territory." Each item in this list should be a faux section, which is done by typing a semicolon (<code><nowiki>;</nowiki></code>) at the start of a line.

==Sublocations==
This section should list and link to the [[cave]]s, [[tower]]s, [[dungeon]]s, and similar sublocations the area contains. It can be named after its contents if they are all of the same kind, such as this section being named "caves" if it contains only caves.

*Its size
==Cutscenes==
*Its theme (garden-like, artificial, etc.)
If this area has no cutscenes, then exclude this section. Otherwise, it should contain a table with all of the cutscenes: one column has a brief title for the cutscene, one contains an image, if one is available, one explains what triggers it, including special requirements, such as it playing when a certain minimum of Pikmin are in the party, and the final narrates the cutscene. The skeleton for the table is:
*Its structure (maze-like, open-ended, etc.)
<pre>
*Type and distribution of the terrain
{| class="wikitable"
*Types of structures of interest (several tree stumps, several lakes, etc.)
! Cutscene || Image || Trigger || Description
*Its linearity (whether it is mostly open with equal exploration on all points of the land, or if it's mostly linear, with clear start and end points)
|-
*How much vertical variation there is
! <name>
*If it's surrounded by water, pits, etc.

After describing the general layout, you should proceed to describe each part of the area. They should be described with at least some detail, but try to keep it simple enough that readers can understand. Additional sections (header 3) can be used to describe them, if necessary. If there is a map for the area, it is recommended to put it in this section. If there are multiple maps, put one in this section and the rest in the gallery section.
==Caves==
If any caves or other similarly-functioning environments are found in an area, they should be listed and linked to here.
==Objects==
==Objects==
All the objects in an area (such as enemies, treasures, and obstacles) should be listed here. If only one type of object is listed, like enemies, then the section should be called just that object. Otherwise, name this section Objects. Any important objects, like boss enemies or upgrade treasures, should be bolded.
A section listing the contents of an area. It should follow the [[PikminFanon:Content list guidelines|content listing guidelines]], except that every category should be its own subsection. Unless impractical, have each list in two columns, using {{t|columns}}.

==Data files==
This section should contain a list of what data files can be found here, separated by their category. The section should start with <code><nowiki>{{main|Data file}}</nowiki></code>.

==Gallery==
==Gallery==
If there are any images relating to an area, they should be placed here. Remember to use <nowiki><gallery></nowiki> tags to make a gallery.
The gallery should contain some images showing most of the points of interest and notable sections in the area. The gallery should also include the image shown on the infobox. Exclude this section if the image shown in the infobox is the only image of the area.
{{clear}}
==End of the article==

This section doesn't have a header. The bottom of the page should contain an area navbox about the game that the area is in. Also, there must be at least one category at the bottom that isn't automatically created by templates.

The following guidelines apply to area articles. The following sections should exist, with the names and order provided.

Opening paragraphs

The article starts with {{game}}, or a respective game header, followed by {{infobox area}}. The opening text, which is not in its own section, should describe what the area is like in the broadest terms possible: how the area is reached, what the most important events that take place in it are, what Pikmin are discovered there, what boss or bosses it has, and other basic points about the area. Miscellaneous geographical features such as hidden murals should be mentioned in this section. Additionally, it is optional to mention what specific enemies show up during sunset, as well as any other important information about the area's specific sunset period.

Plot

If there are any relevant plot events regarding this area, list them here.

Overview

This section explains the geographical properties of the area, such as:

  • Its theme, whether it's a garden, desert, and so forth;
  • Its size;
  • Its structure, whether it's a maze, open-ended, and so on;
  • Type and distribution of the terrain;
  • Types of structures of interest, such as several tree stumps, or a lake;
  • Its linearity, whether it is mostly open with equal exploration on all points of the land, or if it's mostly linear, with clear start and end points;
  • How much vertical variation there is;
  • If it's surrounded by water, pits, or something else.

Key sections

This section should explain the different sections of the area, including cardinal direction references, and list all portions of an area. For example: "To the north, there is a large circular arena accessible at a higher ground level. A rabid beast here guards a sacred relic within a small alcove in its territory." Each item in this list should be a faux section, which is done by typing a semicolon (;) at the start of a line.

Sublocations

This section should list and link to the caves, towers, dungeons, and similar sublocations the area contains. It can be named after its contents if they are all of the same kind, such as this section being named "caves" if it contains only caves.

Cutscenes

If this area has no cutscenes, then exclude this section. Otherwise, it should contain a table with all of the cutscenes: one column has a brief title for the cutscene, one contains an image, if one is available, one explains what triggers it, including special requirements, such as it playing when a certain minimum of Pikmin are in the party, and the final narrates the cutscene. The skeleton for the table is:

{| class="wikitable"
! Cutscene || Image || Trigger || Description
|-
! <name>
| [[File:|px]]
| <trigger>
| <description>
|}

Objects

A section listing the contents of an area. It should follow the content listing guidelines, except that every category should be its own subsection. Unless impractical, have each list in two columns, using {{columns}}.

Data files

This section should contain a list of what data files can be found here, separated by their category. The section should start with {{main|Data file}}.

Gallery

The gallery should contain some images showing most of the points of interest and notable sections in the area. The gallery should also include the image shown on the infobox. Exclude this section if the image shown in the infobox is the only image of the area.
