The Pulsating Jellystick is a species of [Jellyfloat family|Jellyfloat]] appearing in Pikmin: Neo. It resembles an encloses blue bud, roughhly slighlty bigger than a Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat with a tentacle like stalk connecting it to the ground. From this bud-like structure is a series of pulsating nodes and small glowing tentacles. During the day the jellystick is enclosed, being heavily resistant it damage and passively restoring damage due to its membrane having regenerative properties. When at dusk it will open its bud-like structure and reveal its small tentacles, during this time it will release an electric pulse that will stun any nearby prey and can stun and kill small animals like Pikmin except, of course Yellow Pikmin. It does these pulses to change up glands in its body that release lights from the body of the jellystick. At night the tentacle it unfurled begin to glow and attract small bugs, which then get snatched by the tentacles and eaten by the jellystick. It is at this moment when you should attack the creature, however that has its own dangers. When attacked the jellystick will use its nodes to release a pulse of strong light, this light can instantly vaporize any small creature nearby, it will then absorb this vaporized matter to heal itself. To attack it properly you need to use Plasma Pikmin as they can ignore the strong pulses the jellystick creates and is therefore defenseless. Like other members of its family the jellystick will melt and leave behind no corpse, only a few seeds of Sparklium.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “I have seen a noticible lack of lesser spotted jellyfloats during my trips to the many worlds I charted. Coincidently when their greater cousins are found these strange relatives are also found close behind. My theory is that the lesser spotted jellyfloat evolved to live a terrestrial lifestyle and therefore coexist with its greater cousin. It spends most of its time sticking to the side of decaying matter and use their connecting node to absorb the nutrients from below as well as around it.”
Louie's notes
- “Take the connecting node and fry, batter, and bake it as to create a delicious seafood steak.”
