The Rubber Bulboar is a species of Grub-hog appearing in Pikmin: Neo. Appearing similarly to the Patchy Bulboar, it has some differences that need to be noted. Firstly its hide is thicker and consists of a single brown tone, secondly, its head color is bronze instead of peach-like the other Bulboars. The Rubber Bulboar spends its time in solitude living in a nest to guard the eggs of its mate. Said nest is flattened in the ground from the bulboars special abilities. It usually intimidates anyone trying to raid its nest and if that doesn't work it will attempt to bite them in retaliation. If that doesn't work and the enemy tries to raid the nest it will tuck its head into its body and start to roll like a giant ball. In this state, it will roll straight into the nearest threat and attempt to crush them. Due to this, it is key that you avoid its attacks and attack yourself when it misses. Due to the thick hide of this beast, a Bomb-rock should be used to flip it over and expose its soft underbelly.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Adapting to a more mountainous lifestyle, these solitary grub-hogs gained a rubbery hide to protect them from falling rocks. Its hide is also highly flexible, allowing this creature to roll into a ball should it need to move across steep terrain. It is very protective of its nest and will intimidate anything trying to steal its eggs.

Louie's notes

While the skin is too tough to eat, the ribs are moist and delectable. One must cook it carefully, however, to avoid burning it.
