In Pikmin Forever, Red Pikmin are the first type of Pikmin discovered; Captain Olimar finds five of them on day 1, at Daybreak Glade. They are resistant to fire and are strong attackers, but they now have the ability to ignite their stems using fire sources such as fire geysers and Fiery Blowhogs. Ignited Red Pikmin have even greater attack power and can destroy wooden walls. The burning only lasts thirty seconds unless reignited by a fire source, and budded or flowered Red Pikmin who burn continuously for more than one minute begin to revert to leaf stage.
In Pikmin Kart
Template:Pikmin Kart In Pikmin Kart, Red Pikmin are items commonly found from item boxes. After being thrown or dropped, a Red Pikmin will attempt to affix itself to the closest kart in its range, slowing that kart more than other Pikmin would. Because Red Pikmin won't detach from a kart that drives through a fire geyser or other fire source, exposing them to other hazards or swerving wildly are the only ways to force them off. As with all Pikmin items, the Whistle item not only protects a kart from Pikmin attacks but also allows the Whistle's user to take a Pikmin item for themselves to use.

Red Pikmin are the first Pikmin to be discovered in Pikmin: New World. Although a different species than the more widely-known Red Pikmin, they are identical in appearance but have different abilities and are far more useful. Besides Purple Pikmin and Bulbmin, Red Pikmin are the only Pikmin that can take on fire sources and are the only Pikmin able to be able to destroy pillars. Additionally, their attack power is at least three-quarters that of Purple Pikmin, which they are faster than. Red Pikmin should not be used as fodder for candypop buds because of their usefulness both outside of and within dungeons.
Notes
In-game entry
- “The first Pikmin I had ever discovered, the Red Pikmin, are unquestionably my greatest friends. For whatever reason, they always seem the first Pikmin to come to my aid. Separating them from all other Pikmin species, they have a long nose that is used to conduct and absorb heat from the surrounding air and then channel it throughout their body. Though most likely originally evolved for the purpose of keeping warm in cold environments, this nose can also be used for purposes like that of lightning rods: if the Pikmin is immersed in scorching flame, its nose absorbs the heat and channels it into the ground without the Pikmin itself suffering even a slight burn. The Pikmin's heat-absorbing capabilities give it an amazingly high metabolism, allowing in to attack with power that would be far too energy-demanding for other Pikmin types. A new ability that was just recently discovered is their capability to destroy solid marble pillars, which has lead me to believe that they are actually a separate species of Pikmin entirely, just with the same colouration and abilities. If this is the case, then I wonder where my old Pikmin friends are?”

If a Pikmin is on fire and a Red Pikmin is idling nearby, it will come to the rescue of the Pikmin, extinguishing their flame. Red Pikmin are thirty-three millimeters tall and have a carrying capacity of three while under the effects of ultra-sour spray.
Notes
Captain Olimar's notes
- “It is still a mystery how these Pikmin have immunity to fire. My hypothesis is that this species of Pikmin creates a liquid that covers and protects them from fire. More fieldwork needs to be done to prove this right or wrong.”
Tang's notes
- “These little fellas are stronger than the rest of the types, making them excellent for fighting. Put that together with a leader who has experience in battle, and their apparent resistance to fire, and you have a combination that is unstoppable in battle!”
Robin's notes
- “My research of these little guys has brought me to the conclusion that they are great at most objectives. Whatever you put them to do, they'll perform a good job at it, which will allow for a more efficient day. Keeping that in mind, it is still best to bring other Pikmin types if they are available.”
