Orange Pikmin appear in Pikmin 251 as small, orange, blast-resistant Pikmin that are characterized by their red eyes and the small, brown, turtle-like shell on their back. Overall, they resemble orange-colored White Pikmin. They are found only in caves, by throwing Pikmin into a Scarlet Candypop Bud. Up to five can be obtained this way, as the candypop bud will wilt and disappear after it spits out its fifth Orange Pikmin seed. Like Bulbmin, Orange Pikmin cannot be brought to the surface, and will instead remain by the base of the escape geyser, watching the leaders and their Pikmin go on without them. Orange Pikmin are most useful in bomb rock-rich sublevels, or in sublevels that are infested by Careening Dirigibugs and Volatile Dweevils due to their resistance to the main hazard those enemies utilize to attack. Because they cannot be brought to the surface, Orange Pikmin should be thrown into other candypop buds before the cave is exited, as to avoid losing Pikmin. Their first use is in the Abandoned Toybox, to clear the only blast pipes encountered during the entire main story.

Internally, Orange Pikmin are actually pikpik carrots that were programmed to function as and look like a Pikmin. This can be seen when selecting them, and throwing pikpik carrots in the Piklopedia, and would explain why they cannot be brought to the surface during gameplay.

Orange Pikmin (オレンジピクミン^?) are the seventh Pikmin discovered in Pikmin 8: The World Beyond, being found in one of Dry Dry Oasis's caves. They are resistant to explosions because of their shells. When thrown towards enemies, Orange Pikmin withdraw into their shells to perform a spin dash that can strike enemies multiple times and have a forty percent chance to stun them. When exposed to mud, they have a fifty percent chance to become empowered in a fashion similar to being under the effects of ultra-spicy spray.

Originally, Orange Pikmin were to have claws to burrow under gates that they are not resistant to, such as electric gates, and have a small body similar to the White Pikmin.

Orange Pikmin, also known as Shell Pikmin, are the fourth Pikmin normally discovered in Pikmin ARC, directly on the main path, but can also be discovered fifth if a specific route is taken to the Coolix and it is defeated beforehand. They are resistant to explosions and spikes, and less susceptible to earth, because of their shells. When thrown, Orange Pikmin will slam into enemies with their shells, potentially stunning the enemy. This stun chance is increased if boosted with ultra-spicy spray. They are also the only Pikmin that can remove sand walls.

Orange Pikmin are the second species of Pikmin that is discovered in Pikmin: The Key of Beginning. They are found in sublevel three of the Cavern of Redemption by throwing a few Pikmin into one of the Sunset Candypop Buds there. Orange Pikmin are covered in blotches and have no distinct facial features besides eyes. Orange Pikmin have the same damage output as Red Pikmin. If they are taken aboveground or last until the end of the day, Orange Pikmin will revert into the Pikmin they were before being thrown into a Sunset Candypop Bud. Orange Pikmin cannot be stored in the ship or any Onions.

Orange Pikmin are the twelfth and final Pikmin species discovered in Pikmin: Revenge of the Darkfreeze. They are found in the Spiked Chamber. Orange Pikmin have a light orange body covered in tiny thorns. They have blue flowers and their extremities are darker than the rest of their bodies. Its leaf is also thorned, slightly increasing attack. Its eyes are the same as other Pikmin, white with black pupils. The Pikmin's thorns are known to draw blood on careless touch, so being crushed is known to cause great harm to the enemy. Saliva, however, causes the thorns to dissolve. Its thick skin grants it immunity to explosions and its muscular arms enable it to pick up even large bomb rocks.
