The Acidious Cannon Beetle is a relative to the Armored Cannon Beetle that is nearly identical except for the glowing green eyes. Unlike the Armored Cannon Beetle, this species spits out acid balls that disintegrate all but Green Pikmin upon contact. These acid balls also scatter upon contact with a wall or obstacle. They also instantly kill an enemy upon impact, which can be used against the numerous Spotty Bulbears in the Valley of Grief. Acid pours out when its shell opens up which makes it a dangerous enemy if one is not careful.
The Acidic Cannon Beetle is a mature lithopod that spits acid balls.

The Acidic Cannon Beetle is a relative of the Armored Cannon Beetle in Pikmin: The Rising Darkness that launches balls of corrosive acid rather than boulders, which disintegrate all but Green Pikmin upon contact. The acid balls the creature launches from its mouth splatter onto anything within its vicinity upon impact with a wall or obstacle. Most enemies that suffer a direct hit from an acid ball launched by the Acidic Cannon Beetle instantly die, which is a useful tactic to use against the numerous Spotty Bulbears inhabiting the Valley of Grief. When the Acidic Cannon Beetle inhales to launch an acid ball, throwing a Pikmin into its blowhole will cause it to open its wing casings, causing acid to pour out from its exposed body and which creates a wide trail of acid in its wake as it attempts to flee.
