In Pikmin: The Rising Darkness, the Galactic Bulblax is a huge species of bulblax three times larger than the Emperor Bulblax in Pikmin 1. Its hide is adorned with purple energy and ancient moss. It is so large that it consumes twenty-five pounds of food per day, but its normal diet is a mystery. Although it is suggested that it feeds on Emperor Bulblaxes, this is very unlikely. Pikmin are more likely prey, but again this may not be true. Most likely what it feeds upon might be plant life, and rarely, meat. The Galactic Bulblax is the largest of all creatures on the Pikmin Planet, even larger than the terrible Giga Bulbear, and the most fearsome. Its eyes have sickly yellow pupils, and its face is covered with ancient wrinkles and scars. Only a single specimen has been discovered, after it crashed into the Planet of the Pikmin, like a meteor, before burrowing deep in the sand of its impact site. It later resurfaced, in Royal Den.
The battle is held in a huge circular arena, much like the Final Trial's, with a small wall near the far end, which houses nectar weed, bomb rocks, and the geyser. The Galactic Bulblax slowly lumbers around, ignoring Pikmin and leaders, attacking them only if they come into its vision. Its first attack is its attempt to eat Pikmin by using its massive tongue, which can easily engulf an entire army. It can also summon Mitites. After a while, the creature will start to leap into the air. While it is in mid-air, hide behind a wall, because when the Bulblax lands, the kinetic energy from its landing causes a huge shockwave across the sand. This shockwave buries leaders and Pikmin and will cause them to suffocate. However, when it lands, the impact will have caused its feet to get stuck in the ground; as it desperately squirms to get free, now is the chance to attack, although eventually, it will wiggle free. Repeat that process until its health is reduced to half. When to fifty percent, it will perform a new attack: it will belch acid in a circle around itself, which kills all but Green Pikmin on contact. Soon it will jump again, and when it lands, repeat the aforementioned strategy. The battle increases further in difficulty when the creature's health is reduced to twenty-five percent. It will begin to use a new attack wherein its mouth will open wide and begin inhaling everything in its path. When it jumps, hide and attack. After a long battle, the Galactic Bulblax will sink into the ground and disappear. It will finally be defeated and yield a treasure: the Seed of Victory.
