Bulborb Larvae are, as their name would imply, juvenile bulborbs. They have the typical beige snout of bulborbs, but their behind is white with a dab of red on the very end. Bulborb Larvae are continuously born from Empress Bulblaxes. Given that they are young, their size isn't much larger than that of a leader. They are hard to kill in swarms but have little vitality. Bulborb Larvae are infamous for their ability to quickly kill Pikmin: the creature's bite is fast and fatal. However, the small creatures can be destroyed with one punch from a leader.

Notes
Olimar's observations
- “Despite their small size, these larva are very strong and quick at eating Pikmin. I remember being surprised by them on our last journey. Really, the best way to deal with these creatures is to ignore the Pikmin entirely and hit them with the Rocket Fist!”
Cookin' with Louie
- “The nectar this creature drops can be used as a glaze for a sweet taste to rival BBQ sauce!”

Attacks | Eats Pikmin |
In Pikmin Forever, Bulborb Larvae are just as vicious as they were in Pikmin 2, and up to one hundred may be present with an Empress Bulblax at a time. Bulborb Larvae now bite more like Water Dumples, snapping out in front of them and taking slightly more time to chew Pikmin than before; they can still only eat one Pikmin at once. They have gained the ability to crawl up and along walls to reach Pikmin from an unexpected angle. A group of Bulborb Larvae will try to space out as much as possible. Bulborb Larvae can also fall from the ceiling in caves, even without an Empress Bulblax present. This happens occasionally in alcoves and is always triggered by a leader's presence rather than the presence of Pikmin, so it is important to scout cave alcoves with leaders before bringing in Pikmin.

Attacks | Eats Pikmin |
The Bulborb Larva is a returning enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature retains its appearance from Pikmin 4. These small creatures will mainly appear from the Empress Bulblax birthing them, from popping out of small larva dirt mounds, or rarely in the wild. Each dirt mound can have up to 5 larvae out at a time, while the Empress can make up to 25 larvae at a time. Bulborb Larva are extremely weak, being killed by a single hit by anything. However, they can easily overwhelm Pikmin in groups and slowly gnaw away at their numbers. This is mainly due to their extremely quick and deadly bite attack, being able to eat a Pikmin in a mere second. It’s best for captains to engage large groups of larvae, as they have lots of health and their fists can easily kill a larva in a single punch.

Attacks | Eats Pikmin |
The Bulborb Larva is a very young bulborb appearing in Pikmin: Wide World. They are found in caves that are inhabited by an empress bulblax such as the Empress Red Bulblax or Empress Orange Bulblax, and are also birthed by them. The Bulbear Larva is its more ferocious counterpart. Bulborb Larvae can be found idly lurching around in swarms of up to ten individuals, in small territories. They will follow any Pikmin or leader they see but will stop pursuing them if they move far enough away. If a Bulborb Larva is led away from its group, it will attempt to return to it. Bulborb Larvae will congregate around the empress bulblax that birthed them, and as such, there is usually a high concentration of Bulborb Larvae around it.
Bulborb Larvae are small, relatively featureless creatures. They resemble most common bulborbs, but lack legs and therefore must squirm along the ground to move. They have a light beige face, a white rump with a reddish end to it with a pointed tip, and gray eyes with white sclerae. They lack fangs but have no problem devouring Pikmin.
Defeating a single Bulborb Larva is a quick and simple feat that can be accomplished in a few ways, but their sheer numbers can make minimizing Pikmin casualties difficult. They can be swarmed with Pikmin, have a single Pikmin thrown on top of them, or be punched by a leader, with all three methods leading to a swift kill because of the creatures' little vitality. Charging Pikmin into a Bulborb Larva head-on can be dangerous because of how quickly it can devour them, while Pikmin that are thrown directly on it will crush it under their weight in an agonizing death that causes it to splatter. When a Bulborb Larva is hurt in any way that doesn't result in immediate death, it will emit a pained shriek that alerts any nearby creatures to the conflict. This is most dangerous in situations where Bulborb Larvae are surrounded by larger, more dangerous grub-dogs or other creatures, with the most threatening being the empress bulblax that birthed them. While newly-born Bulborb Larvae are too fragile to leave any salvageable remains, those already in the wild are more resilient and will leave remains so long as they aren't crushed.
In ultra-spicy difficulty, Bulborb Larvae will lunge forward when they bite, giving their attack some range.
Notes
Data file #1 (all difficulties): As social creatures, Bulborb Larvae are always found in groups. Isolating them is unlikely.
Data file #2 (all difficulties): Bulborb Larvae die quickly from any attack. Crush them before they can make a sound.
Data file #3 (ultra-spicy difficulty only): Bulborb Larvae tend to get overzealous with their bites. Stay clear!
Olimar's comments
“Even immediately after being born, bulborb larvae have the ravenous appetites grub-dogs are known for. They have remarkable independence but prefer to hunt for prey in massive groups. Large quantities of these creatures congregate around the empress bulblax that birthed them, and they defend the matriarch with their lives. They unleash a loud shriek when threatened, which alerts larger grub-dogs to the presence of a threat.”
Shacho's comments
“One use to these little creatures is being an intruder alert system, but keeping them fed is impossible! Affording enough pikpik carrots would be too costly.”
Marie's comments
“These little larvae are extremely cute but are always so ravenous! They're very prone to chewing, especially as their teeth grow in, so bite marks may be frequent on furniture... and body parts.”
Louie's comments
“Their small bodies yield very little meat, but what is available is very delicate. Good on its own, but goes even better with soulful gravy!”
Dolphin Lander's comments
“What absolutely adorable little critters! They look so much like their parents... as all offspring should, of course, haha. I'd just like to know when they develop their legs and how that process goes.”

Bulborb Larvae are more common, and can be found inside of eggs. When the egg breaks, Bulborb Larvae may pop out in all directions. They also appear with the Empress Bulblax in Cliffside Meadow, meaning they can be encountered aboveground as well.
