The Dwarf Orange Bulborb appears in Pikmin 4: The World to Free. It behaves like other dwarf bulborbs, but can scream to wake up nearby Orange Bulborbs and can swim in water.
Notes
Tike's notes
- “Despite being a cousin to the Dwarf Red Bulborb, they have excellent lung capacity. They can scream for as long as five minutes! Actually, they don't even have to use a fraction of that energy to get a guardian's attention, which would be an Orange Bulborb of course. They also can run faster and even swim underwater. Wow, they actually could surpass their guardian if it weren't for their weak exoskeletons.”
Alice's notes
- “I am completely baffled at how every breadbug hasn't followed these guys' footsteps. They're cuter, smarter, and they can swim! If only they weren't so vicious... that way I could train them to do tricks. However, one thing I would watch out for is to not teach it any type of backflip tricks. I could see that going very badly.”
Captain Pikmin's notes
- “The same thing for other dwarf bulborbs applies, but if they are in water you can't crush them. Plus if it is nearby an Orange Bulborb, this little guy won't have any hesitation to use its ear-piercing scream to call for some assistance.”

Notes
Brittany's notes
- “The extent to which the breadbug mimics will go is amazing. Not only has the Orange Bulborb's coloration been copied, but its developed senses have also been acquired. It has a tendency to hunt farther from the "parent" because of this, which somewhat tarnishes the relationship.”
Olimar's notes
- “When killed, it will scream loud enough to awaken nearby adults. Its increased senses become its downfall, as it is easy to lure away from the group. They can still be killed with a direct hit.”
Louie's notes
- “In contrast to the big guy it imitates, the Dwarf Orange Bulborb is quite lean, with a very interesting flavor profile that connoisseurs are sure to enjoy.”

Dwarf Orange Bulborbs share the edginess of Orange Bulborbs, being able to spot and chase Pikmin even when they are a fair distance apart. [In the Toxin Chamber, thirty Dwarf Orange Bulborbs and an Orange Bulborb guard the toxin legend shard. The Orange Bulborb drops the Toxin Legend Shard upon defeat, so defeating all Dwarf Orange Bulborbs is not necessary. Dwarf Orange Bulborbs are faster than some other dwarf bulborbs and can eat up to two Pikmin at a time. Although a group of Dwarf Orange Bulborbs may pose a challenge, they can still be defeated easily through the use of Purple Pikmin.

The Dwarf Orange Bulborb is a returning enemy appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature retains its original appearance throughout the Pikmin series. Dwarf Orange Bulborbs act like most dwarfs, sniffing the ground and pursuing Pikmin that get too close. However, this species of dwarf is much faster than other dwarves. Along with this, the creature will pursue Pikmin for a longer distance before stopping. If attacked, the creature may screech, awakening any Orange Bulborbs nearby. Like all dwarfs, throwing Pikmin on its back is most effective, doing significant damage.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, Dwarf Orange Bulborbs are similar to how they were in Pikmin 3. Notably, they gain their red counterpart's returning ability to wake up nearby grub-dogs by yelping when under attack. When this is done, any nearby Orange Bulborb will instantly wake up.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “A direct parallel to the Dwarf Red Bulborb. Its existence has been theorized ever since the initial discovery of the Orange Bulborb. One can deduce that this mimicry, which is otherwise somewhat identical to the Dwarf Red Bulborb, came to be in response to the growing population of Orange Bulborbs.”
Louie's notes
- “As with the Orange Bulborb, these minuscule munchers taste like beef. I prefer eating their meat in fajitas, burritos, and empanadas. Do note, however, that the preparation of this meat can be a tricky process.”
Ship's comments
- “It looks like a cat, which I guess makes it less disgusting than most bulborbs. However, with that color, it seems incredibly... unlucky. At the same time, though, all our luck ran out already the second we stepped on this planet.”

Notes
Abel's medical journal
- “The eyes of this creature contain proteins that give them better eyesight overall. However, obviously, you can't just transplant the eyes to a Jiritie, not yet anyway.”
Lyn's sale review
- “A loyal guard dog, these creatures have good enough eyes to be able to see from far distances. Just feed them well and you have a loyal guardian.”
Pix's creature scan
- “Mimics the Orange Bulborb. Recently became more alert to better mimic them. Has a bold orange color.

Attacks | Eats Pikmin |
Dwarf Orange Bulborbs are a species of the breadbug family that mimics Orange Bulborbs, much like Dwarf Red Bulborbs mimic the form of Red Bulborbs. They are slightly faster than other dwarf bulborbs and can sense Pikmin and leaders from further away, making them more of a threat. They can, however, be defeated just as easily as other dwarf bulborbs, either by swarming it or killing one instantly by throwing a Pikmin directly on top of it. Alternatively, leaders can punch it to death; its low health pool makes it easy to kill with even one leader. Just avoid its mouth. This particular dwarf bulborb variant screeches less than others, and when it does it lets out a quieter squeak, alerting fewer enemies in the vicinity. When a bomb rock detonates somewhere near it, it'll travel near the sound's position to investigate.
