Pikmin: 100 Days Without a Ship is an unfinished fanon game created by an anonymous user that would eventually become CarrotStilts1. It is centered around Olimar and Louie working to locate the S.S. Dolphin 2 after losing it in an accident. Development started with the page's creation in 2016 on the long-abandoned Fandom version of Pikmin Fanon, known as Pikcanon-NOT, and went relatively smoothly up until 2020, amongst the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdowns. After Pikmin 3 Deluxe's release in October of that same year, revitalised interest in fanon writing led to Pikmin: 100 Days Without a Ship being reworked into Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers in November of 2020.

In March 2024, eight years after the game's initial conception, CarrotStilts1 would port the game to Pikmin Fanon with the intention of filling out some of the blanks left behind from its abandonment, and if not to complete it, at least give an idea of what could have been. This came with enemies being updated in name and design, caves and treasures being altered, and ideas from the game's development finally being put in pages. Despite this, the game is unlikely to be finished and is considered non-canon to the Lotus timeline it inadvertedly spawned.

Plot

The plot of Pikmin: 100 Days Without a Ship was not very fleshed out and is ultimately basic in structure. It concerns Captain Olimar and Louie going to PNF-404 for an unspecified reason, and taking the S.S. Dolphin 2 on the journey. However, they accidentally crash into a tree branch, dislodging the two alongside the S.S. Dolphin 2's pod (coincidentally conceived a year before Hey! Pikmin was released) and leaves them stranded. Their only hope is to locate the ship as it goes on an uncontrolled crash course within the one hundred days the research pod can power their life support systems in, whilst gathering treasure for an unspecified purpose.

Beyond the retroactive alteration of the S.S. Dolphin 2 into it's Hey! Pikmin iteration, this entire plot summary represents a relatively pure and unchanged depiction of the game's story.

Pikmin

The list of Pikmin available for use in this game had to be cut down at least twice before being ported to Pikmin Fanon. This list represents the most recent roster of the Pikmin represented.

  • Red Pikmin
  • Yellow Pikmin
  • Blue Pikmin
  • Purple Pikmin
  • White Pikmin
  • Bulbmin
  • Rock Pikmin
  • Winged Pikmin
  • Sand Pikmin – A Pikmin with a grainy, tan texture capable of wading through quicksand.
  • Pumpkin Pikmin – A Pikmin that wears a shed gourd as a shell. The comfort and physical protection it provides keeps them from panicking.
  • Termite Pikmin – A Pikmin with an immense appetite. They can chew through obstructive ropes and wooden objects with ease.
  • Black Pikmin – A Pikmin capable of withstanding tough adhesives that would slow others down.
  • Green Pikmin – A Pikmin whose tough skin lets them survive substances that would corrode other types.
  • Almond Pikmin – A species that can only be propagated through Ercu Candypop Buds, possessing a pair of sickle-shaped claws that lets them dig faster and plant beanstalk plants.
  • Cloud Pikmin – A cavern-only species of Pikmin capable of floating and blowing gusts of air to displace enemies.
  • Ant Pikmin – A remarkably small species of Pikmin that exists only in caves, to be used in segments where Olimar and Louie are shrunken to a remarkably small size.

Locations

Many of the areas in Pikmin: 100 Days Without a Ship had to have been retroactively renamed as to make them more appealing.

  • Bordering Plains – A forest and open field bordering each other. The forested areas resemble some of the earlier grass areas in the Pikmin series.
  • Inland Shore – A tropical jungle located close to the coastline. Resembles the Tropical Wilds from Pikmin 3.
  • Yielding Desert – An open desert with various species of cactus and frequent spots of quicksand.
  • Haunted Creek – A misty river in a dead forest home to unnerving creatures and scenery.
  • Tangled Tundra – A snowy landscape home ensnared within various ropes that obstruct progress.
  • Sickly Swampland – A nauseating bogmire filled with water, pools of acid and tar pits.
  • Acrylic Metropolis – A play table with a block city constructed on it. Located within a garden in the backyard of an old house.
  • Submerged Pond – A subterrenean cavern flooded with water that Blue Pikmin must drain to allow progress.
  • Volcano Plateau – The peak of an extinct volcano. Though calm on the surface, fiery suprises await in its caves.
  • The Rustyard – A muddy industrial complex with sparse botanical life.
  • Quiet Riverbank – A serene creek in an autumnal forest like the Twilight River from Pikmin 3. Despite the name, it is arguably the most dangerous in the game.
  • Final Wild – An eerily abandoned forest occupied by a plethora of carnivorous plants.
