Pikmin 3 Plus is a fan-made concept for an expanded port of Pikmin 3 by Soprano, released in an alternate universe where Pikmin 3 Deluxe was never made and Nintendo was instead more ambitious with porting Pikmin 3 to the Nintendo Switch. The game features an expanded Story Mode campaign, where each of the four main areas has had new parts added. The new sections of areas house four new bosses and thirty-four extra fruits, bringing the total number of bosses to ten and the total number of fruits to one hundred. It also features new Mission Mode and {{c|Bingo Battle]] stages, as well as all the changes to controls and accessibility that Pikmin 3 Deluxe introduced.

The plot of Pikmin 3 Plus is the same as the plot of Pikmin 3, except after rescuing Louie from the Quaggled Mireclops, the Koppaites receive a weak signal from the Tropical Wilds, Distant Tundra, and Twilight River, notifying them that there's more to find in each of those areas, but not where that thing to find is. The Formidable Oak is still unlocked after this and can be accessed to end the story unless collecting more fruits elsewhere is preferred. The source of these signals is a boss in these areas, and these three bosses can be defeated in any order. Each boss gives the Koppaites a crystal when defeated. If the Koppaites have all three crystals when they defeat the Plasm Wraith, the S.S. Drake's takeoff will fail and there will be a second final boss fight with a more powerful Plasm Wraith on top of the Formidable Oak. Defeating this boss leads to the true end of the story.

Area differences

Each of the four main areas of the game has changes made to add extra sections. Sometimes this involves minor changes to existing parts of areas in order to fit in these new sections. These extra sections feature rooms more oriented toward a specific type of Pikmin, particularly Blue Pikmin. This is to make each Pikmin type more useful beyond its initial introduction.

Garden of Hope

The Garden of Hope does not receive significant changes in Pikmin 3 Plus, being the only area in the original game to already have two bosses. However, it does have some extra rooms added, some of them featuring more seesaw block puzzles.

Tropical Wilds

The Tropical Wilds features significant expansion at its western end. Upon defeating the Sandbelching Meerslug, part of the sand wall at the back side of its arena collapses, making it possible to walk up onto the beach behind. While there isn't much to find on the beach, there is much to find in the water behind the shoreline. There are several fruits in this Blue Pikmin-only area, and a boss fight that takes place fully underwater. There are other changes to the area, such as the Flighty Joustmite cave being replaced by a larger cave puzzle for Blue Pikmin and Winged Pikmin.

Distant Tundra

The Distant Tundra features some more caves themed around ice. One of these caves features a large circular frozen lake, and an electrode. Completing the electric circuit with Yellow Pikmin activates a heating element that melts the frozen lake, revealing a boss that sits in the water and shoots projectiles at the rest of the cave.

Twilight River

The Twilight River features an extended river, taking the player into a third main sub-area with additional fruits to collect, puzzles to solve, and enemies to fight. There is a boss in an arena connected to this part of the area.

Formidable Oak

The Formidable Oak has minimal changes, the only difference being the top of the area being turned into a boss arena at the start of the second final boss fight.
