Pikmin: The Planet of Hope is a 2023 fanon Pikmin game developed by Nintendo and made by Papernoggin43. It follows three new characters, Miles, Alex, and Ava, on a mission to rescue Olimar and Louie, and to repair their ship. All previous Pikmin types, including Puffmin and Bulbmin, return, and some new types are introduced.

Plot

The story opens with each of the three leaders stating why they are going to the Distant Planet, with Miles stating they wish to meet Olimar, Alex to explore new land, and Ava to find treasures and observe the wildlife.

The perspective then switches to Olimar's, showing him and Louie landing on the planet, with no Pikmin accompanying them. After setting foot on the planet, Olimar and Louie find a strange cave. Olimar seems eager to jump in, but Louie runs away at the sight of it. Unbeknownst to Olimar, who delved in, a paper bag falls on Louie’s head, knocking him out. Olimar, in the cave, encounters a Mamuta, which proceeds to battle him. Olimar loses, as he has no Pikmin, and the Mamuta dissolves into a strange black goo and engulfs Olimar as the scene fades to black.

The perspective then returns to that of the three heroes, who are revealed to have crashed. Miles is unconscious, and a group of Red Pikmin try to take him back to their Onion. However, the Onion is inactive, so the Pikmin can not put him inside. Miles wakes up upon being hit against a wall, and the Pikmin surround him. He attempts to use his whistle to scare them off, but he only brings them closer. Back against the wall, he tries whistling again, dismissing them. Miles tries to carry the Onion by himself and fails. The Pikmin then help him, which is when he befriended them. The Onion spurts open, and Miles must clear a way forward by having at least thirty Pikmin push a paper bag off a ledge.

The day ends when Miles finds the S.S. Geyser and enters orbit around the planet. The Onion, Pikmin safely within, follows him into the sky.

The next day, after receiving a mysterious signal from the Radiant River, Miles descends to the ground, with the Onion in tow. However, the S.S. Geyser hits a bridge, scattering its fragments about nearby. With Red Pikmin, he rebuilds the bridge and crosses over to the other shore. There is a large oak tree, which Miles and his Pikmin climb, only to be attacked at the very top by a new species, a Luminous Joustmite. The battle is fierce, but Miles comes out on top, and the creature is defeated. The creature spits out a strange yellow creature, later revealed to be Oatchi, and carries it back to the S.S. Geyser. After the day ends, in the morning, Oatchi wakes up but is in too poor of a condition to go on an expedition.

Miles receives a strange signal coming from the Dry Wasteland and has to investigate. Upon arrival, he receives another signal, an S.O.S., from a member of his crew. As he lowers a bridge, he discovers the White Onion, a new, evolved species. After producing enough White Pikmin to tear down a poison wall, a sleeping bulborb awaits the group. However, this bulborb shows little to no interest in harming the Pikmin and instead lets the group ride on its back. Miles affectionately names it Bolbert. They walk into a sandy clearing, only for a crowd of Dwarf Bulborbs to pop out of the sand around the sides, and start leaning into the arena. The Box-Eyed Bulblax begins to emerge, and a fight ensues. Miles and Bolbert are victorious, and the bulblax spits out the ship’s satellite and Ava. Bolbert leaves the group behind as they exit the arena. Ava and Miles leave at the end of the day, with the ship’s satellite safely in tow.

Later that day, Miles and Ava wake upon a pile of wrecked ship parts, soon finding out it is their ship that was wrecked in the process. No one knows who or why, but all fingers point to a Hocotatian fellow also found in the wreck, Louie. Louie then grabs the ship’s engine and runs off with it. The Onion is close nearby, and the group reassembles the ship bit by bit, sleeping in a nearby cave if it takes more than one day. Eventually, Oatchi is found in the pile of parts, and there is a small section where Oatchi chases down Louie personally. He brings the engine back, and the day ends. The group then comes back to the area to find a boulder absent from the main area entrance. They enter a cave where freezing winds can turn large groups of Pikmin into ice blocks, able to be moved by Troglohogs. Any Pikmin frozen will die at the end of the day if pushed into a Troglohog den. They then find a Clay Onion, which spits out a Clay Pikmin seed. These Clay Pikmin form a slope up to a cliff, where Louie lies, carrying an egg. This egg hatches into the Smoky Progg. After defeating it, the group confronts Louie, who fell unconscious. They take him back to the ship, and the day automatically ends.
