The Snowblown Wastes, also known by Yuki's name for it, “Windy and Snowy Place”, is the fifth area in Pikmin: Antarctic Survival. This area is the main location where thread can be collected. It is also the only location where Blowblooms can be found. Airborne creatures are especially common to find here.

This area is more dangerous than the previous areas. This danger is a result of the constant snowstorm blowing throughout the area. This snowstorm severely limits visibility, causes intense wind chill which can make frostbite occur more frequently, provides cover for hostile creatures, and makes it easy to become lost. Search teams exploring the Snowblown Wastes often misplace a member or two in the blizzard, leading to the lost creatures wandering aimlessly in the snow for the entire day before finally finding their way out of the region and returning to the Settlement empty-handed. The snowstorm also makes it more difficult to identify useful resources due to obscuring them, and makes it more likely that hostile creatures will ambush travelers.

Layout

The Snowblown Wastes form a large hill which occupies most of the space in the area. This hill is covered in rocks blanketed in snow, and provides plenty of small alcoves between rocks where creatures can live and lie in wait. Twisting paths lead up the hilly territory to its summit, where the area's tyrant, the Snowfake Fluttertail, is found.

Several of the alcoves between rocks in the hill carve deep into the tunnels below the region, which are as dangerous as anywhere else in the Antarctic. Many of these cavern entrances have been blocked off by thick and dense webs, which have been woven by the region's thread-producing wildlife to seal off the dangerous caverns. Webs can also be found scattered throughout the region, in areas where flying creatures are likely to attempt to pass through and become trapped in the webbing.

Plantlife is very scarce in the hostile and inhospitable Wastes, with the exception of the Blowblooms, which sprout from the snow and rocks all throughout the area.
