The Greater Spotted Jellyfloat, also known simply as the Greater Jellyfloat, is a member of the jellyfloat family. As its name implies, it resembles a large, pinkish version of the Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat. Greater Spotted Jellyfloats can suck up more Pikmin at once, and even leaders.

Notes

Olimar's observations

Oh man, just thinking about these things makes me sick. I can tell you firsthand that being ingested by one of these monsters is NOT a pleasant experience. The sounds they make and their color only makes it seem worse being in there.

Cookin' with Louie

Like a fine cheese, the aroma of this fluid floater can be oppressive, but its flavor must be experienced to be believed. Also makes an unforgettable nondairy spread!

The Greater Spotted Jellyfloat is a floating jellyfish-like creature Pikmin: Before the Impact that, much like their lesser variety, can suck up objects such as treasures and fruits, as well as Pikmin. Unlike their lesser counterpart, they can suck up any treasure or fruit, barring the Devious Devilberry, as that weighs 1,000 units, meaning that they are less easy to ground. Unlike their lesser counterpart, they can actually digest Pikmin.

Notes

Stevvy’s observations

Beware of the Greater Spotted Jellyfloat! This flying behemoth will suck up anything and everything it sees, so don’t let it suck you up! Not even the heaviest of treasures will leave this creature grounded, so try and get an advantage to beat them!

Natti’s cookbook

Much like its lesser variety, the Greater Spotted Jellyfloat’s insides are useful for a variety of things. Unlike its lesser variety, though, the insides vaguely taste like a cross between sweet fruit and meat. It requires a refined palette to enjoy, that’s for sure.

The Greater Spotted Jellyfloat is a returning enemy in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The giant jellyfish retains its iconic appearance. The creature will wander about in the air until Pikmin or leaders are seen. It will then float over to them and suck them up. After 30 seconds, inhaled Pikmin will be digested and killed. Captains that are sucked up will weigh down the Jellyfloat and promptly be spat out. The best way to take down this creature is to weigh it down with many Pikmin. If Ice Pikmin freeze it, it will fall down and shatter instantly. A hit from a single Purple Pikmin can also weigh it down instantly. Dart Pikmin can cause it to slowly lose health, while Weighted Pikmin cannot be sucked up. When it dies, it harmlessly explodes, leaving nothing behind except a possible treasure or ingested Pikmin.

Greater Spotted Jellyfloats, in Pikmin: Global Breakdown, are extinct, dying out before the Lesser Spotted Jellyfloats did. This was due to the weather changes, and other creatures overpowering the competition for survival.
