The Flighty Piddlepoddler is an enemy found in the files of Pikmin 1. It appears to be some sort of insect with large eyes and wings, a pair of multi-jointed arms or legs under its body, and a tapered tail trailing behind it. Its tail features a spherical bump halfway through, and its tail has a pointed end, giving the creature's family its name. Its textures are unfinished, and so it appears mostly metallic except for its translucent blue eyes and wings. Little is known about the Flighty Piddlepoddler or its behaviors, and what is known of it is that it would have flown upwards immediately after appearing and had a very large health pool. It would also apparently have spawned Smoky Proggs at it moved, although it is entirely possible that it would have spawned something else would enemy identification values not been moved around during Pikmin 1's development.

Attacks Captures Pikmin, captures Leaders, uses Adhesive, eats Pikmin

The Flighty Piddlepoddler is a species of hooktail in Pikmin: Dual Worlds that wraps its long, hooked tail around small terrestrial enemies and carries them around, usually back to its nest. When approached by Pikmin, leaders, and other hostile enemies, it will drop its cargo on or near them in addition to attempting to grab the threat. If successful in this endeavor it will generally attempt to carry its new cargo away and back to its sticky nest. If it manages to escape, it will attempt to eat its prey, though in the case of leaders it will be unsuccessful, though it will try persistently and deal a good amount of damage to them over time. Any leaders it captures will eventually be carried away from its nest after any Pikmin it captures are eaten and it will throw the leader in question to the ground, repeating this process and carrying leaders to different locations until all leaders are out of its nest. Once a leader has been captured by a Flighty Piddlepoddler once, that Piddlepoddler will no longer specifically go for that leader and will only do so by accident. It will still attack the captured leader once if it gets back to its nest, but it will instead focus on its other cargo afterwards, releasing the leader the same way it did prior. The only way to free captured leaders and Pikmin once captured is to attack the Piddlepoddler while en route to its nest, as its nest is high up to the point that Yellow Pikmin cannot reach it from the ground, and even if it is somehow accessed its nest is coated in a sticky substance. Its nest contains several light gray eggs, which contain Piddlelarvae. In Mission Mode and Battle Mode, Winged Pikmin are able to fly high enough to safely retrieve leaders and Pikmin that are captured as well as attack the Piddlepoddler itself.
