In Pikmin: Dual Worlds, Shearants appear much like they do in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator and Pikspore, but with minor differences. Female Shearants are slightly bigger than their male counterparts, which are roughly the same size as the basic sheargrubs, but both inhabit and protect a single hive, which can be a part of an area or an entire cave outright, the former case being Feverpitch Forest+ and the latter case being both forms of Flamenco Forest. Shearants leave their hive in squads of five to twenty at a time and actively cooperate to take down mostly smaller enemies; upon their defeat, the Female Shearants work together to carry the body while the Male Shearants act as an escorting group to protect them as they navigate back to the hive. Male Shearants often tend to vegetation near their colony's hive, and occasionally cut down said vegetation before taking it into the hive. If the vegetation is too heavy for a Male Shearant to carry on its own, it may send for a Female Shearant to assist it. Female Shearants also regularly scout out undiscovered parts of their surrounding territory. Both the male and female varieties of Shearant can be taken out the same way as their legless counterparts, by throwing a single Pikmin directly on top of them, although this tactic is unwise due to how they tend to travel in small groups. While harmless on their own, Female Shearants can grab a single Pikmin at a time using their jaws and hold it in place, allowing a Male Shearant to attack. If there are no Male Shearants around, they will collectively move to grab Pikmin, afterward attempting a swift retreat to their hive. Generally, the optimal way to deal with Shearants is to make use of nearby explosives, or other hazards such as boulders, water, or sweetgum pods. Shearants have one weakness that basic Sheargrubs don't: Male Shearants take longer than their legless counterpart to eat Pikmin, meaning that swarming them is effective and often results in few, if any, casualties. There exists a stronger variant of the Shearant deep within cave-based hives, and a variant in hotter climates known as the Stilted Shearant.

The Shearant is a mandiblard in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator that has legs, a characteristic thought to have been possessed by ancient mandiblards. Whether the Shearant has retained its limbs through time or has evolved enough to regain them is unclear, but they are intelligent creatures that can organize themselves similarly to Pikmin. They can be witnessed performing tasks such as carrying corpses, drinking nectar, and attacking in organized formations. If they are forced to engage in a fight against Pikmin, the combat is relatively one-on-one, making the Shearant a particularly annoying and difficult threat. To defeat a group of Shearants, swarm them with a group of Pikmin larger than the group they are in. Using Pikmin that are good at fighting, such as Red Pikmin, is particularly useful when battling these creatures. A stronger, winged variant of this enemy is the Shearant Elite.

Shearants appear in Pikspore, and a large nest of them is hidden within the trees of Darkness Plateau. Occasionally, small groups wander out from the nest to gather food. A treasure can be found by the nest as well as some Pellet Posies that the Shearants were growing, suggesting that they cultivate food like real-world leafcutter ants do.
