The Shearant Elite is an advanced form of the Shearant, a race of mandiblard-like beings that could either be the ancestors or the descendants of the mandiblards. The Shearant Elite sports a pair of powerful wings that allow it to fly high above its attackers, but it can fend for itself well on the ground with its powerful jaws. The female has pink wings and the male has purple wings. It can also spray acid from its maw, making Green Pikmin useful for battling them. Yellow Pikmin are also useful for forcing a Shearant Elite out of the air. Shearant Elites usually have plenty of Shearants around for protection, making battles against them more difficult.

In Pikmin: Dual Worlds, the Shearant Soldier and Shearant Guard act as the equivalent of the Shearant Elite, though they are simply a more mature version of their lesser variations, and mechanically they are far different. The Shearant Soldier is about the size of a Female Shearant, and can eat 2 Pikmin per bite, as well as roll to the sides to escape being damaged, crushing Pikmin it tramples over. Due to having a more extensive exoskeleton than its lesser relative, it cannot be damaged from above, only from the sides, front, and back. Of course, if one can interrupt it while it happens to be rolling, it will get stuck on its back, becoming vulnerable to attack from above. It tends to patrol the lower floors of the hive, searching for intruders. It can also be found tending to livestock in the form of a group of Dewsuckerss. The Shearant Guard is roughly the size of an Iridescent Flint Beetle. While it doesn't have a developed exoskeleton like its male counterpart, it happens to be bulky enough to negate the usual strategy of throwing a Pikmin directly on its back in order to crush it instantly. It too can roll to the sides, but it is also capable of burrowing into the ground and leaping out soon afterwards. It can also, of course, grab Pikmin in its jaws, up to 3. It will usually cast them aside and roll into them, or otherwise burrow into the ground, crushing them. Similarly to its male counterpart, it can be interrupted during its roll with a well placed Pikmin throw, though it is risky and doesn't have as much of a benefit.
