The Toxstool is a sporovid that can expel poison gas and deliberately uses it to resurrect dead Dwarf Moldy Bulborbs and Moldy Slooches. It is mostly passive and wanders around aimlessly unless attacked, in which case it will retaliate. If the mold covering its chamber is removed, or if there are dead Dwarf Moldy Bulborbs or Moldy Slooches in its vicinity, the Toxstool will rush over to regrow or resurrect them with its spores.

The Toxstool is a species of sporovid appearing in Pikmin Evolution. They retain the same appearance as their Pikmin 4 incarnations, but due to environmental factors, their caps are now striped rather than spotted. They appear mainly underground, or in areas with a lot of moist rot, going about and spreading their moldy spores around the place, making it more sticky. These moldy spores radiate from the moldy clumps it creates, which must be destroyed by Roach Pikmin to get rid of. Toxstools also are usually surrounded by a number of mold-infected enemies such as Dwarf Moldy Bulborbs, Moldy Slooches, and others, which guard their own patches of sticky mold, and defeating them are typically required to remove the mold. However, that won't last long, as the Toxstool is able to resurrect those enemies by showering them with its spores. Killing the Toxstool will cause the enemies it has infected to die and disintegrate alongside it. The Toxstool is best attacked with Roach Pikmin as they are immune to the spores this creature makes. However, in retaliation, the Toxstool can scatter red spores that throw even Roach Pikmin into a panic and can lead them into the mouths of enemies. The Toxstool is quite a healthy creature, having fifty percent more health than the Puffstool and the ability to heal itself the more moldy clumps are around it by intaking the substance around itself. When at low health, the Toxstool can also scatter gray spores, which cause their younger variant, Toxcaps, to grow and later attack alongside it. The Toxstool is notably dangerous to an unprepared group of Pikmin, but have their own weaknesses as well. Toxstools notoriously hate fluids like water, which shrivels up and stuns the Toxstool temporarily, leaving it free to be attacked. It also hates acid, as that will cause its mold to melt away and cripple its health regeneration ability, leaving it almost helpless if not for its minions. Overall, the Toxstool can be seen as a more advanced and dangerous version of Puffstool since both are easy to defeat with Roach Pikmin, but the Toxstool has means to counter its own weaknesses.

The Toxstool is a species of sporovid appearing in Pikmin: Scrambled Dimensions. It only appears in two caves: the Toxic Tubes, where it is by itself, and the Final Bout, where it is accompanied by a Puffstool. The Toxstool will spray a toxic gas when provoked, poisoning any Pikmin unfortunate enough to be around it when it retaliates. It is classified as a mini-boss, and the mini-boss theme plays while fighting it.
