The Yellow Masterhop, known officially as the Masterhop, is an enlarged version of the Yellow Wollyhop. Much like its smaller counterpart, the Yellow Masterhop tries to jump onto Pikmin and leaders to crush them. Notably, however, when in wet environments, it creates water-filled depressions in the ground where it lands.

Attacks Crushes Pikmin

The Masterhop is a species of amphituber in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The large creature resembles a Yellow Wollywog, but it has a much larger size. Along with this, the creature also has a darker green tint and a more orange skin tone with blue pupils. The frog creature will lie dormant in its arena until it’s approached. The creature will then look at the Pikmin suddenly, stamping its legs and emitting a loud croak, initiating the battle.

The Masterhop has a few attacks at its disposal. Its main attack is jumping high into the air, remaining for a few seconds before landing on the ground. The impact will crush and kill any Pikmin under it, along with Pikmin beside it being flung away. A water puddle will be made under the impact, being a threat to non-Blue Pikmin or non-Weighted Pikmin. If attacked, the Masterhop will croak and shake off Pikmin. Besides the standard amphituber attacks, the Masterhop has other, new attacks. The Masterhop will begin to dig at the sand if Pikmin are near, throwing sand and Pikmin away from the creature. It will then quickly do a backflip hop at the location the sand was thrown. The brutal sneak attack is extremely difficult to avoid. If provoked, the Masterhop will swell up its front. It will then expel the air at Pikmin, intentionally trying to blow them near bodies of water to drown them. Weighted Pikmin cannot be blown away. Once killed, all sand puddles in its arena will eventually dry up. Defeating a Masterhop for the first time will grant the "Frogjitsu" achievement.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Master Wollyhops seem to be Yellow Wollywogs that decided to not breed and focus on their hormonal growth instead. The creature feeds mainly on plants and plankton in the water as it lacks many predators or prey to hunt. Despite this, the combat tactics of the Masterhop are on point. Perhaps it spends all its time training? That would be nonsense... right?

Louie's notes

This meat will create a taste bud brawl in your mouth! Fresh Masterhop cuts grilled on a coal oven with ground clover leave a delicious dinner to not be missed!

President’s notes

This frog is massive! I’ve always wanted a Wollywog aquarium. Perhaps this creature is not suited for an aquarium, but more as a ride at the zoo!

Overlord’s thoughts

Nobody knows, but I have been training a few of these frogs to defend themselves and other animals with the most top-notch martial arts. I guess they’re like my Crawbster hitman. The Masterhops will become the guardians of the amphituber species.
