I bet this butterfly has a neutral spray! – The ship, upon discovering the White Spectralid

The White Spectralid is an enemy that appears in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles a small butterfly with a fluffy white body, two tiny legs, and two small antennae. Its main feature is its two large, white wings with a blue outline and black spots.

The White Spectralid can be found flying around flowers or other plants. It will occasionally stop to rest on a flower petal or edge of elevated land. The creature is extremely agile and will fly away if so much as approached. However, it's extremely weak, and one hit from a Pikmin is more than enough to kill it. When killed, the White Spectralid has a chance to drop an ultra-neutral spray.

In Overlord mode, the chance for a White Spectralid to drop its respective spray is decreased significantly, as with all spectralids.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The White Spectralid feeds off of plants with cleansing, or healing properties. This would probably explain why the sprays we harvest from this species have a more cleansing effect on our Pikmin, clearing them of effects and hazards.

Louie's notes

The meat is bland, and can't be used for much. Best used for filler or spam.

President’s notes

So whenever I'm sick, I just take a dose of spray from this butterfly, and I'm healed? I'll become the top doctor of Hocotate!

Overlord's thoughts

This butterfly feeds off of the nectar from white flowers. At least, I think they're flowers. For all I know, it could be a chrysanthemum mimic. You never know what is what on my planet.

In Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers, the White Spectralid acts the same as its Pikmin 3 incarnation. If a White Spectralid is resting on a bulborb and it gets woken up by Pikmin or leaders, the bulborb might take its attention off of them and begin chasing the White Spectralid instead; this is true for their yellow and red counterparts as well.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This fluttering beauty seems to have a preference for crystallized nectar, rather than its liquid form. As such, some specimens have been observed plundering the pellets of Pellet Posies with relative ease. Interestingly, certain spectralids have fallen prey to bulborbs. Whenever this is due to the bulborb's hunger and instinct or just annoyance towards the insect for disturbing its slumber is unknown, but it could fully be both.

Louie's notes

Defur the specimen and deep-fry until golden, and serve as soon as you can. Treat the wings like shrimp tails; they're inedible and tasteless, and could be removed either before or after preparation.
