The Hermit Crawmad is a crustacean that appears in numerous areas throughout Pikmin Eco. Their behavior mirrors that of Pikmin 3: they are found in shallow holes often by a body of water. They remain stationary in these holes until a leader or their Pikmin wander too close, to which they will emerge, and after a while, lunge out and attempt to catch its prey. If successful it will drag them back to its den to eat. Unlike any other enemy, there are two different types of Hermit Crawmad found; those found in Shimmering Seaside are twice as big as those found in Bounty Canopy or anywhere else.
Notes
In-game entry
- “It's highly interesting how much of a size difference there is between the saltwater crawmads and freshwater crawmads. Those found along the coastline are fairly large in stature as forest-dwelling specimens are half the size. It is suggested that this results from the cramped conditions within the forest as opposed to the open sea. If this is correct, then it would also explain other variations of size between other species found in the ecosystem.”
