Attacks Electrocutes Pikmin

The Paralic Voltantern is an enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It is the most radically different member of the ribbifin family, being more akin in shape to a stingray. It is blue with eyes similar to the Geothermal Ribbifin. It has a pair of webbed fins that it uses as arms, and numerous yellow, egg-sac-like organs on its back. Its tail stands up erectly. When approached, it will drag itself across the ground towards the squad and emit a barrier of electricity from the organs on its back. If it is encountered in water, this attack will be more powerful, electrocuting much of the surrounding area around it. Because of this, it is recommended that Blue Pikmin be extra careful around this creature. When defeated, it flips over, revealing its circular, jawless mouth.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This bottom-feeder is most commonly found in the intertidal zone but has been observed as far deep down as the twilight zone as well. It is believed that it originates from a lower area of the sea, as it has a symbiotic relationship with a species of microbacteria similar to those found in most bioluminescent sea life. Instead of light energy, these bacteria produce electric energy to paralyze and possibly even kill its predators.

Louie's notes

Once severed from the main body, its electric sacs will become safe for consumption. Let them sit in a marinade for two days to give them a flavoring of your choice, put them on a kabob stick, and throw them onto the barbie! The resulting taste and texture combo is one of the simple joys in life.

Ship's comments

Those bulbous things on its back look really gross. They make me feel bilious, and I can't even do... that.
