---|
The Creeping Bell is a species of bronzabell in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. They resemble a small, golden bell, only around the size of a Dwarf Red Bulborb. They have one eye with gold sclera and black pupil, and a small clapper on top of their body acting as an antenna. Its main feature is a large, golden sphere inside of its body, which it uses to produce its ringing noise.
The Creeping Bell cannot be seen anywhere when they appear in a sublevel, as they are entirely out of view otherwise. It’s only when the leaders and Pikmin begin to enter the level is when the bronzabell begins to make itself known. They will slowly float down from the sky before blending themselves into the group of Pikmin. Leaders that are distracted or don’t pay attention won’t notice the Creeping Bell moving alongside the Pikmin, as the Pikmin won’t attack them. Upon approaching any creature that is idle, sleeping, or buried, the bronzabell will begin to slam its sphere on its main body, producing an annoying clanging noise. This will alert nearby enemies to the leader's location, along with sending Pikmin into a panic. They will then fly off, returning after one minute has passed, and more than likely not, the leaders have gathered their bearings.
The Creeping Bell cannot be killed or damaged. However, if they are whistled at, they will fly off, never to return for the rest of the sublevel. This is their main and only weakness. It’s recommended to periodically check their squad for Creeping Bells.
In Overlord mode, the Creeping Bell will take two whistles before flying away. The first whistle will make them freeze up, similar to how Pikmin stop whatever they’re doing and freeze when first interacting with a whistle.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This annoying pest seems to be a scavenger. They will awaken larger predators when prey is nearby as to take them out. Once the predator has its share of the meal, the bronzabell will eat when the beast has left its kill. This wretched noise it produces is a result of its metallic body clanging against itself. The composition of a Creeping Bell seems to be of a form of bell metal, otherwise known as copper and tin. Its eye might be the true body of this creature, and the bell acts as a vessel.”
Louie's notes
- “As it turns out, metal is inedible. You can use this bell as a good way to alert your family for dinner, however. Everything has some use in Louie’s cookbook. Except for Breadbugs.”
President’s notes
- “The clanging from this bell reminds me of the good old days of high school! Wait... good old days? I take that back, I was bullied a lot. Those dolts must be jealous of me now! Ha!”
Overlord’s thoughts
- “This species of animal seems to either mimic the bell or use it as a vessel. I wonder why a bell specifically. The ancient race did provide them with a lot of options. You could’ve taken over a fork! Would’ve made eating a lot easier.”

The Creeping Bell is a small, floating bell-shaped organism appearing in Pikmin: Dusk and Dawn. It is made out of a shiny, bronze material, and has a stem-like antenna with a spherical clapper that it slams against itself to create noise. While leaders aren't paying attention, it slips into a squad of Pikmin, following behind the leader in charge. Particularly focused or absentminded leaders may fail to recognize the infiltrator as its antenna looks much like a Pikmins' stem. When part of a squad near sleeping enemies, be they many weaker ones or few stronger ones, the Creeping Bell will suddenly and violently slam its clapper against itself, producing an insufferable clattering that both sends Pikmin into a panic awakening the sleeping enemies, and alerting any that are awake in a large radius. Afterward, it will fly off and disappear. The strong exterior of a Creeping Bell renders it impossible to harm, but whistling it at any point will scare it off, also causing it to fly away. A maximum of two Creeping Bells can be in a squad at any given moment. It is partially nocturnal, being more common at night, due to it being harder to see. Creeping Bells can not wake bosses.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “Creeping Bell / Alertas bobbronze / Bronzabell family. I have to keep a close eye on my Pikmin squad, lest it sneaks in and alerts creatures at the worst possible time. The whistle seems to scare it off.”
Louie's notes
- “Inedible, causes extreme tinnitus and an infatuation to clocks.”
Chacho's notes
- “How shiny! I could certainly pass this off as gold! I just wish I could get my hands on one...”
S.S. Twilight's notes
- “The Creeping Bell is a species of Bronzabell that hunts for food in an unusual matter. Due to its bronze-like composition, its spherical tip, which is controlled by the creature, will be slammed onto its body, emitting extremely high frequencies that can wake larger predators. The Bronzabell species tends to only do this when other smaller prey are near. Once those prey have been killed and eaten by predators, the Bronzabells will go and have their share of the kill. Creeping Bronzabells tend to stay around organisms in the grub-dog classification.

The Creeping Bell in Pikmin: Interstellar Cryptid resembles its Pikmin: Dusk and Dawn incarnation, but is brighter in color, has a stouter bell shape, and has an orange stripe around its eye area. They fall in line with Pikmin squads and remain inconspicuous until certain enemies are approached. If they have not yet been alerted by the Pikmin's presence, the Creeping Bell will let out a cacophonous ringing noise by slamming its antenna-like clapper onto its bell. This will alert nearby enemies, which is especially troubling if those enemies are particularly large like the Mallet Fish. Once they're done ringing, they will fly off and disappear. A leader can use their whistle to scare off the Creeping Bell.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This creature is so abstract it's almost absurd – a floating, bell-shaped organism made entirely out of brass with no visible organic components. It seems like fantasy, but the truth of the matter is that it's actually a species of cnidarian, relative to other aerial jellyfish common on this planet like the umbloda. Lacking significant digestive tract necessities like teeth, the creeping bell is incapable of hunting for its own food. Instead, it's a scavenger that lets other predators do the work for it. It often lingers behind creatures passing by, and when crossing paths with other predators, the creeping bell uses its clapper to create an intense noise that alerts said predators to the prey's location. After the predators are done with their prey, the creeping bell will siphon any remaining flesh and other edible matter from the grisly remains.”
Louie's notes
- “Not even my teeth can break through this creature. I tried and it made my ears ring badly...”
Bentley's notes
- “Okay, I'm actually mad. This creature very nearly got us killed for its own amusement! I really hope we don't have to cross paths with them too much... if at all, really.”
Eloise's notes
- “I bring earplugs in the medical supplies just for occasions like this.”
