Attacks Eats Pikmin

The Archertongue Ribbifin is an enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. Although it looks vaguely like a tripedal lizard, it is actually a fish, as befits a member of the ribbifin family. It has a long body, large fangs, three fins that evolved into clawed feet, and a long tail fin that ends with yellow and orange markings. Its body displays various shades of yellow, tan, and brown. Its eyes are mustard-brown, and it has numerous growths on its back.

A creature based on a frogfish, the Archertongue Ribbifin remains stationary but will reorient itself when it senses prey such as Pikmin. When it is ready, it will try to skewer them from afar by using its tongue, which has a triangular tip, like an arrowhead, before rapidly retracting it and eating them. Its attack is similar to the hunting tactics of a frog.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The Archertongue Ribbifin, like other ribbifins, is an amphibious creature. It can breathe on land just as well as it does in the water. A sticky film allows the Archertongue Ribbifin to survive out of the water. Its patterned skin helps disguise it in sandbars, where it buries itself and uses its tongue to catch creatures by surprise.

Louie's notes

Not the most thrilling dish, but nonetheless, Archertongue Ribbifin fillets can be a very filling and fairly delicious meal to share with your peers. Don't forget your paprika and lemon juice!

Ship's comments

It's a fish with the texture of sandpaper. I guess that's what happens when you spend most of your time out of the water, but SOME level of skin care would be nice!
