The Mutation Candypop Bud is a species of candypop bud appearing in Pikmin 2... Again?. It is first introduced in the Meadow of Memory. It resembles a flower blossom like any other member of the candypop family, but its pink petals and green leaves are in opposite places. The Mutation Candypop Bud will be closed at first, but open once approached, allowing thrown Pikmin to be thrown inside. Once at least 5 Pikmin are thrown in, the Mutation Candypop Bud will close its petals, eject the now-mutated Pikmin, wilt, and disappear.

The Pikmin the candypop bud ejects are determined by the types thrown into it, but no matter what, they are turned into another type, a subspecies. Some subspecies require 2 different species of Pikmin to be created, fusing both species together into a new Pikmin. Subspecies can be customized, but don't have their own reskins.
