Bamboo gates are gates that are made out of bamboo sticks and require Winged Pikmin to bypass. Each of the five sticks has a handle on top and requires two Winged Pikmin in order to be lifted. As such, ten Winged Pikmin must be issued to lift the entire gate. Until they are called back, they will keep the gate in this opened position, allowing leaders, Pikmin, or even enemies passage underneath. No more than ten Winged Pikmin can lift a single gate, and once they are told to return, they will close it again.

The bamboo gate is a returning obstacle in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. It can not be cleared by conventional means such as from Pikmin or bomb rocks; the only way to do so is by having up to ten Winged Pikmin lift the gate up, allowing for entry underneath. Along with this, there is a new variant of the bamboo gate that is silver in color. The silver bamboo gate weighs a total of fifty Winged Pikmin, essentially requiring half of a full squad, making battling enemies much more difficult. Enemies can see Pikmin and leaders through it due to the gaps, but they will usually let out a grunt and move along.

The bamboo gate is a type of gate in Pikmin: Louie's Revenge. It consists of six pieces of bamboo standing up on end with metal hooks on the top of each one. A string hangs far above the hooks. To open the gate, thirty Pink Pikmin need to be thrown onto the top so that, with five Pikmin on each bamboo reed, they can fly up and attach the metal hooks to the string, permanently allowing access behind it.
