Claw Pikmin, also known as Orange Pikmin, is a Pikmin type introduced in Pikmin 2... Again?. It is only obtained from the Amber Candypop Bud, which is, as always, only encountered in caves. They Claw Pikmin resemble orange Pikmin, being larger than average Pikmin types, but not as big as the Purple Pikmin, and the Claw Pikmin have claws instead of fingers and wider arms, which they use to dig and for attack, and they have eyelids, having half-closed eyes. Their torso, both its front and its back, are covered in spikes. The Claw Pikmin dig the fastest, even more than the Yellow Pikmin, Rock Pikmin, and the Green Pikmin. Additionally, the Claw Pikmin can dig tunnels, creating a path that other Pikmin and leaders can pass through to quickly reach another place, as well the ability to dig harder materials such as stone and others. And they can hit the foe with their claws twice, due to their spikes, dealing a total of the same damage as the Purple Pikmin, but having a below-average hit rate. Due to their spikes, the Claw Pikmin cannot the trapped in bubbles, so when the bubble touches the Claw Pikmin it causes the buble to pop. Then, if eate by a enemy it'll stop for a few seconds before spit them out, alongside any in their mouth. However, after that, the Claw Pikmin will lose its spikes, meaning it becomes vulnerable to die by being eaten, and can be trapped inside bubbles, and they now due to having to spikes to hang on with, meaning they'll only be able to hit the enemy with their stems now. They will recover their spikes by nectar consumption or in the next day.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Claw Pikmin / Pikminidae asphalax / Pikmin family. This species of Pikmin is interesting. I thought only Yellow, Rock, and Green Pikmin dug the fastest. This one has proven me wrong; with those claws, they are the best! They can also use their claws for offense, striking twice at any threat. In addition, they have eyelids, which are needed for their subterranean lifestyle so dirt, sand, or other particles can't get in their eyes while they dig, which be problematic. They also have spikes on their torso that acts as armor, making creatures that try to eat them spit them out again, and bubbles no trouble at all. That said, when spat out, they lose their spikes, rendering them vulnerable until they recover, such as from nectar consumption or in the Onion during the night. I also noticed they are unaffected by sand, and don't sink in quicksand.

Louie's notes

I wouldn't dare. It would be painful with those sharp-looking spikes.

Clawed Pikmin are the second new type of Pikmin in Pikmin V, first discovered in Mad Jungle. Their Onion is the Black Onion and their candypop bud is the Ebony Candypop Bud. A Clawed Pikmin's head and body are round, making it slightly shorter than usual, and are predictably colored black. Just like Orange Pikmin, it has a maroon flower. Its main feature is the large claws that are on its hands. These claws allow it to stick to foes it is latched on to, cut thin materials like webs and vines, and climb certain rocky surfaces. However, they also interfere with carrying objects, so it takes up two carrying spaces on objects and therefore cannot carry objects with a maximum carrier limit of one, like bomb rocks and fragments. It is also somewhat weaker than the other types of Pikmin.
