While some moving platforms hover in place, contrary to their name, most move at various speeds around a set path between two or more locations they can be boarded from.

Some drones can be controlled through remote controls, specifically in alternate sublevels, where a leader has to step on the buttons to send the Pikmin onto the drone to a sticker.
