The Icy Blowhog is a large airborne blowhog that blows icy air at nearby Pikmin and leaders to freeze them and the ground under them. They are immune to freezing but can be damaged by fire starters.

The Icy Blowhog is a species of aerial blowhog appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It undertook a massive change in build, now resembling the appearance of a Withering Blowhog instead of a Puffy Blowhog, while retaining the same color scheme. The Icy Blowhog has some additional features, mainly the addition of tiny ice crystals hanging over its chin, making it look like it has a stubby beard. The Icy Blowhod has received some buffs and nerfs, correlating with its new appearance. In terms of nerfs, the Icy Blowhog's health is on par with the weaker Withering Blowhog instead of the bulkier Puffy Blowhog, and it actively flees from sources of fire and heat, meaning it only appears in cold climates. However in terms of buffs, the Icy Blowhog receives quite a few, for one on some parts of its body its even bulkier than the Puffy Blowhog, since the ice covering its lower body makes damage received in that area reduced by 75%. Secondly the Icy Blowhog's ice breath is more potent, instead of just creating a freezing ground, the ice spray causes the ground to become much more slippery, making navigation trickier. It often groups up with enemies such as the Hairy Bulborb and Water Dumple, who take full advantage of the fact your captains keep slipping around. Icy Blowhogs are also buffed in that they highly hazardous in watery environments, as when they spray their gasses onto the water it will freeze over, suffocating and killing any Kelp Pikmin trapped in the ice. This new feature can be useful, however, as the iced water can be walked on by all Pikmin types, and some puzzles require you to bait out an Icy Blowhog to freeze over parts of the water so as to make them safe to walk on. Icy Blowhogs have several different strategies to take them down easier, they can be hooked by the Kelp Pikmin's long leaves and sniped from the sky, they can be hit with a fiery red syrup which causes them to temporarily turn their sprayed ice into harmless white vapors, or you can deal with them with Alloy Pikmin, whose ice and wind immunity makes them completely immune to the Icy Blowhog's attacks. Overall, nothing much changed since its last appearance, just updated to take advantage of the new gameplay systems of Pikmin Evolution.
