The Peeper is a simple test enemy found in the files of Hey! Pikmin. What it would have done is unknown, as it seems to have been created purely for testing the game's graphics, simply being a pair of wings and a pair of eyes.

Below this point is where users place their version of the Peeper.

This room is amazing! Chairs, computers, tables... Walls, so soft I pass through them! – Gerald, in Mission 2

Gerald is one of the main characters from Pikmin 2... Again?. He appears only in The Amazing New Update!!, first appearing in the intro. He is wise, knowing the location of the Unbalanced Onion and Cat Cod's location. Gerald says to Orimario and Looigi that the Unbalanced Onion does exist, but only in the void, which is locked for nobody to use it. But Gerald says only one can break this powerful gate, the Cat Cod, but he explains that they can do only so by giving it the Sacred Sardines. Gerald is a pair of floating eyeballs, this appearance gets even more absurd in the ending, where wings pop behind it. In the ending, Gerald grows a pair of wings and flies away, revealing it was a Peeper, a prototype, unused enemy from Hey! Pikmin.

Gerald also appears through the Missions, appearing in one place of each Mission, he cannot be interacted with except by the Jackfruit, having a unique dialogue when it arrives and when it is hit by the Jackfruit, flying away, and in Mission Infinite, Gerald have random dialogues, but on the first sublevel when first playing it, he have a unique dialogue, playing again, Gerald won't say it again, replaced by another dialogue. Most of Gerald's dialogues aren't helpful, and rather for humor, except for one. He says the following things each Mission:

  • Welcome to the frontooms, we got nachos! – Mission 1
  • This room is amazing! Chairs, computers, tables... Walls, so soft I pass through them! – Mission 2, hinting Blower Pot's location
  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... – Mission 3, the speech goes off-dialogue box
  • This is your first boss rush, good luck. Squortles rule here. – Mission 4
  • Congratulations! You reached the temple, don't ask how I got here. – Mission 5, before Jackfruit arrives
  • Hi, how are you going? Got the sacred can of... – Mission 5, when Jackfruit arrives
  • Well, sliturnip. – Mission 5, when Jackfruit collides with Gerald
  • Round 2! Good luck, now its lots of enemies and boss fights. – Mission 6
  • This is your final quest, White Scarf has the Sacred Sardines still. Time to defeat them! – Mission 7 before defeating White Scarf
  • That was... Easy? Makes sense, they're a Pikmin. – Mission 7 after defeating White Scarf
  • You again? I gained wings, liked it? – Mission Infinite, at first on sublevel 1
  • Help I ate a pizza with pineapple IN it. I'm dying. – Mission Infinite, once playing it again in sublevel 1
  • I heard a flower pot made the game. Do you believe in this? – Mission Infinite, mentioning Blower Pot
  • AIaiaoikkioaZkisoqikoqkiqoqiiiashjxdiidialaoskiosoakaxkskwsjsjsjshikh – Mission Infinite, having a stroke
  • I hate mosquitoes, wait, I am the mosquito. – Mission Infinite
  • I wonder, do you remember that ship you piloted a while ago? What happened to it? – Mission Infinite, predicting Yoshitate Ship's appearance
  • Don't you feel shame for abandoning it in the frontrooms AND then fighting it? For 10 years? – Mission Infinite, after defeating Yoshitate Ship
  • Be careful, there are those skeleton candypop bud, or those ones for Bulbmin, Glow Pikmin, and Walkin Carrots, but actually they aren't, one even ends the world! – Mission Infinite, predicting the Evil Candypop Bud
  • You suck. – Mission Infinite, when with a critical health
  • You don't have to be stupid to know that something also white and that has black stuffs isn't safe. – Mission Infinite, upon using a Evil Candypop Bud
  • I heard that. – Mission Infinite, upon using a Kaboom Candypop Bud
  • Oh my gosh!! – Mission Infinite, upon using a Suspicious Candypop Bud
  • Are you having fun? – Mission Infinite, upon using a Bud Budpop Bud

Gerald's useless dialogues were slightly inspired by Pizza Granny from Pizza Tower.

Are those eye... flies? This planet is strange. – The ship, upon discovering the Peeper

The Peeper is a small, strange creature appearing in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. They resemble a pair of eyes that have white sclera and black pupils. Two white, transparent wings are attached to the pair of eyes, allowing for the eyebulb to fly. The size of the Peeper is quite small, a little larger than the size of a Pygmy Spectralid, making them one of the smallest enemies to find.

The Peeper can be found flying around idly, or if plants that they're hiding in are shaken. The eyebulb will appear in groups of ten to twenty. They will continue to fly in a small area, occasionally stopping to rest on petals, leaves, or even enemies like Bulborbs and Mamutas. The Peeper is extremely hard to hit, can not be targeted naturally by Pikmin, and can not be locked onto, like the Pygmy Spectralid. If they are killed, they leave very little to be desired in spoils.

Peepers are not worth killing, and serve more as decoration than anything.

In Overlord mode, Peepers appear more frequently.

Notes

Olimar's notes

The Peeper is an anomaly of the eyebulb family. Despite their appearance, they actually have very microscopic mouths on the bottom of their eyes, which resemble the small proboscis of a butterfly. The Peeper uses this tube to suck up the nectar from flowers, making them great pollinators. They are frequently found around Pygmy Spectralids and are a sign of a healthy ecosystem.

Louie's notes

The eyeballs of these things serve as a good substitute for cheese balls when fried and dipped in cheddar powder. Just hope people don't lick off the powder and see an eyeball staring at them.

President’s notes

Flying eyeballs with fly wings? I think I saw one of these guys in my dreams once...

Overlord’s thoughts

I’ve been seeing a lot more of these guys lately, which is good. I thought they were going extinct when I saw them less back then. Glad to see the Peeper is still... peeping?
