Scientific name Carabea vescora
Family Crablipps

The Grubchucker is a particularly tall enemy that hunts Pikmin but is not aggressive toward leaders themselves. It attacks by swiping its pincers at Pikmin, catching up to one Pikmin in one, and placing them into the mouth on top of its body, swallowing and killing them if not interrupted. Pikmin directed to attack a Grubchucker will climb its legs if they can't reach the body on the initial throw. The Grubchucker will collapse and become entirely vulnerable if enough Pikmin are latched on to it or if Oatchi charges the back of its legs.

Attacks Eats Pikmin, pours fluids

The Grubchucker is a returning enemy in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. The creature resembles its original appearance in Pikmin 4. It wanders about a set area until it spots Pikmin specifically. It will then attempt to scoop up to 5 of them in each claw before tossing them into the mouth atop its head, whereupon they will be digested and killed. If the Grubchucker's legs are attacked, the creature will fall over, and upon doing so, will pour out a small pool of green fluid, being its stomach fluids. The bile will make the Pikmin slip up and fall over, but Rubber Pikmin are unaffected by it. This buys the Grubchucker a bit of time to get back up, making it effective to attack the crab from behind to maximize damage. Iguana Pikmin can attack the creature from the top of its head without having to knock it down. Cactus Pikmin can also damage its legs and do moderate damage, much like attacking its head would.

Attacks Eats Pikmin

The Grubchucker appears in Pikmin: Interstellar Cryptid. It resembles its Pikmin 4 incarnation. It grabs Pikmin and throws them into the mouth on its head, slowly eating them over time. Pikmin can be thrown at its legs to topple it over, but it's easier to ram into it with Roacher to instantly achieve the same results.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Amongst the tallest arthropods on the planet, grubchuckers have a massive mouth on the sinciput of their head. However, it isn't always open and is essentially welded shut when the creature is initially born. To nourish itself at such a young age, the grubchucker has small trophi under its feelers that recede as it ages, ensuring it can eat while its sincipital mouth gets ready. It is omnivorous, eating smaller creatures like acrobat flipgroupers, fruit, and nuts, often without needing to shuck the inedible parts first. It spends most of its time reclused in estuaries with plenty of coverage by the trees, and in underground streams, as to prevent its massive lips from getting chapped by the sun's rays.

Louie's notes

Every part of it is edible, and very delicious! The lips can be marinated in lemon juice and salted for an appetizer, limbs can be buttered up with miso sauce, body can be turned into croquettes with cream sauce on the side, eyeballs can be pickled... There's no way to go wrong, really!

Bentley's notes

You know that thing where people throw food in the air and try to catch it with their mouths to impress their friends? Well for this guy, it's a lifestyle. More power to him, too! I can barely catch a popcorn kernel with my mouth when eating normally...

Eloise's notes

How could something with legs jointed like that stand so upright? I think if it were me, I would fall over. Over and over again.
