Upgrades are collectibles that benefit leaders and grant access to alternate game modes. In Pikmin: Wide World, upgrades are separated into 3 distinct categories: unlocks, Exploration Kit upgrades, and ship parts.
Upgrades
All upgrades are listed alphabetically.
Unlocks
Unlocks grant access to alternate game modes.
- Aggression Meter: unlocks Battle Mode, wherein players compete or ally against other players.
- Anomaly Log: unlocks Bottomless Abyss, an endless cave players can try for a high score in.
- Telecommunications Device: unlocks Challenge Mode, a series of stages presenting various challenges.
Exploration Kit
The Exploration Kit consists of upgrades that benefit leaders, but also sometimes Pikmin by extension. It includes upgrades from Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3, as well as newly-introduced upgrades. Each upgrade is classified as a mark 1 model when found, and the Dolphin Lander can augment the benefits of most using sparklium.
Exploration Kit upgrades are not obtained from treasures, but small plastic capsules with a transparent top; delivering such a capsule to the Dolphin Lander will grant the upgrade within. Some are found in the open, but others are spat up by bosses. Each Exploration Kit upgrade requires the strength of 15 Pikmin to carry and can only be carried by 25 at most. Few capsules may contain more than 1 instance of the upgrade within, and even fewer contain enough for every leader to have at once.
Most of these upgrades can be toggled on or off from the Dolphin Lander, and some through the HocoPad, but only 1 can not be toggled whatsoever. Any that are of limited quantity must be exchanged between a leader that has it and one that does not, at those same places. Furthermore, leaders normally can equip only 1 upgrade on a specific part of their bodies, with some exceptions, and only ever 1 instance of it.

Each tier increases flight time. | Back | 1 | 3 seconds | 4 seconds | 5 seconds | × 200 | × 400 |
Mega Punch | Improves a leader's damage output. Marks 2 and 3 increase it further and enable another quick hit to follow up a previous one. Ship parts
Ship parts, rather than being used to rebuild a ship, are used to expand upon or improve the Dolphin Lander's capabilities. There are only a few ship parts to collect, but each greatly benefits the leaders. Like Exploration Kit upgrades, ship parts can be found around the world.
- Jet Juicer: has a more effective juicing system, extracting 10% more juice from all fruits delivered to the Dolphin Lander, including spiderwort berries for increased spray production.
- PikHold: allows leaders to store juvenile parasitic Pikmin hosts in the Dolphin Lander. Purple Pikmin and White Pikmin are also stored in it until their respective Onions have been rescued. Captmin and hostile Pikmin types such as Alien Pikmin and Mushroom Pikmin can not be stored.
- Repair Module: allows leaders to mend their spacesuits, recovering lost health, at the Dolphin Lander with sparklium. The cost scales up with how much health is to be recovered, however, with × 35 used to restore 1/4th of a leader's total health.
- Revitalizer: when a downed leader is brought to the Dolphin Lander, she will ask the player if they would like to use × 140 to revive them. If accepted, she will beam up the downed leader, revive them, and beam them back down. Revived leaders only have 1/4th of their total health but can be healed. If declined, the Dolphin Lander will simply beam up the downed leader and keep them safe for the rest of the day. The player can also change their mind and revive a downed leader after initially declining by interacting with the Dolphin Lander's hologram and selecting the option to revive the downed leader.
- Sparklium Extractor: doubles the amount of sparklium obtained from any resource brought to the Dolphin Lander. This includes, but is not limited to, fruits, treasures, and of course, sparklium seeds.
- Sparklium Saver: reduces the amount of sparklium the Dolphin Lander uses for any task by half, rounded down.
- Whistle Transmitter: allows leaders to recall all Pikmin to the landing site, no matter if they are idle, working, or fighting, unless they are currently buried.
