In Pikmin 3: The Dweevil's Revenge, the Chemical Goolix is considerably lethal as well as invincible, as no Pikmin is resistant to the substance it is made of, which is the same substance produced by the Smoky Progg. The Chemical Goolix will also try to ambush Pikmin and leaders by emerging from the ground as a normal Goolix would. A Chemical Goolix appears in Wollywog World after day forty-five, and another one appears in sublevel seven of Chaotic Cove.

In Pikmin: Near Extinction, the Acidic Goolix appears only once certain conditions have been met: the Mini Long Legs at the Landing Site must have been defeated; Blue Pikmin, and preferably Lime Pikmin, have been discovered; and there must be more than five hundred living Pikmin total. Only Lime Pikmin and Blue Pikmin can be used to battle the creature, although Blue Pikmin are at an extreme disadvantage because they melt shortly after exposure to acid, which instantly kills all other Pikmin except the acid-resistant Lime Pikmin. The nuclei producing the acid must be attacked and destroyed for the creature to melt away into the cracks on the stump it is fought on, leaving behind a 20-pellet of a random color.

The Chemical Goolix is a relative of the Goolix in Pikmin: Sinister Incinerator that only Green Pikmin can battle. An incredibly caustic, green acid makes up its membrane, but its internal structures remain the same: one larger nucleus causes more damage when hit but is difficult to hit repeatedly, and the other smaller nucleus can be attacked constantly for minimal damage.
